Dual screen
Hello racers,

I have two Samsung Syncmasters: S23B350H, 23" and B2330, 23".
Since today I have got works that it's next to each other.
So I can go with my mouse and files to the other screen.
But when I open LFS, it's only on the mainscreen.
How can I get it now over the two whole screens? Like in the movies on YouTube, about dual screen LFS.
I hope someone know how to fix that. Mayb u know also how to get it in other games.
You have to set it in everygame again?

The last thing I want to know is: can u play LFS and on the other screen open your music program? Is there a software that u can click on something at Music program, and drive at the same time?

I hope to hear something.

Greetz,
Kunkine
You have the following problems:

1) LFS (and pretty much every game on the market) can only run in full screen on 1 monitor, while on windowed mode you can use as many monitors as you want.

2) If you run LFS on windowed mode and click outside LFS' window LFS will not receive your inputs (even if you are using a steering wheel).

Your options are:

1a) If you have Windows 7 (maybe Vista) you could use AMD Eyefinity (or nVidia's equivalent) to fake your monitors, making Windows think you have only 1 big monitor, so LFS will not "complain" when switching to full screen.

1b) If the instructions above doesn't work, check SoftTH and Matrox Triple Head.

2a) Buy a multimedia keyboard and use those keys to control the music.

2b) Go to your media player preferences and assing hot-key combinations to your keyboard.

The solution 1a may be combined with "virtual desks" (or whatever its called) so you can maximize a window only in one monitor, as it works now.
And have you tried setting up dual monitors in LFS? I.e in one of the graphics menus there is a option too add extra monitors (and you can say you have one on right and one on left)

But after that I can't help you as I have never tried it

That is just to adjust the field of view when using multiple monitors. But this setting is recommended to get the best results. May I ask, how they stand, do you want the ingame steeringwheel on one monitor and the other one to look out of your car on the right / left? Or you want the ingame wheel in the exact middle of both, so it is divided be the screenborders?
Thanks for the reactions.
I have got windows 7, 64x.

my monitors:
  • Syncmaster S23B350H (1920x1080)
  • Syncmaster B2330 (1920x1080)
I have looked for SoftTH, but cant get it work :S

Please can someone help me, step by step?

Greetz!
Tell us also what graphic card you have.

thanks for the clarification

i'm far too cheap too buy two or even three monitors for my computer. maybe one day i will then i will know what lfs is really like
Give us some more info
For some reason, SoftTH doesn't seem to work with LFS. I have the same problem. I have read somewhere here on the forum, that LFS uses DirectX 8 and you should try an older version of SoftTH. On my side, tried it, and it still doesn't work.
If someone has a solution, I would also like to know it .

As a side note, rFactor suns flawlesly on 2 sceens (with SoftTH) and it is a pleaseure visually..
PS: This was the other thread.

AMD radeon 6870. What do u want more to know?
Its connected with DVI (B2330) and HDMI (S23B350H)
That cards is Eyefinity compatible and as your 2 monitors are the same resolution you will be able to enable it. Just open your Catalyst Control Center (if someone doesn't know yet, it's the name of the driver for AMD cards).

Once you create the "huge" monitor you only have to open LFS, go to options->Screen, and choose the new "huge" resolution that is available.

just download some music player program that allows to set hotkeys.
http://www.foobar2000.org/ is nice imo.
Isn't that my solution 2b?

Winamp does also allow it. I'm pretty much sure everything that does not come from Microsoft allows it hahaha

Or just go for option 2a and don't blame Microsoft hahaha
Nah, Microsoft is (almost) always to blame of everything
