my dad once knew somebody who imported english cars ... fist thing he did once they arrived was to completely dismantle them and put them back together properly ^^
well my dads got his own lil garage, and he spends about 90% of his work life losing his head over bad car design. e.g, the other day i was helping him replace a timing belt on a vw golf (german i no :P), and it would of been a fairly reasonable job, if it wasnt because of the engine mounting being placed right in the way so you cant reach anywhere, especially when theres loads of room at the back of the engine they could put it. but im guna stop ranting on now. ppl will start to dislike me
MR2 is too expensive to be 'Chav' around here...all the dumbasses are too busy pissing around with Escorts, Astras and Clio's to get something with RWD :pillepall
Then again...I am in essex, could explain a lot.....
I'm in Loughton, not too far from you and I don't know if you've seen but the MAIN car that you see in an evening on the High Road is a black (mostly 52-54 plates) Renault Clio and you just know it's a "Loughton boy" sitting behind the wheel
thats a common problem in all cars though especially modern ones with their weird shapes which completely eat up all space that should be available under the bonnett
most interesting thing ive seen in that respect was fixing a slipping fan belt on a fiat coupe ... that car has a cross mounted inline 5 causing a very tight fit in the engine bay
in the end they had to put a table under the car completely dismount the engine except for all the cables tubes and everthing else thats flexible and lift the car away from the engine
a 15 min job turned into a whole day of work
1, Fiat Coupe 16v turbo 195bhp best car i ever owned except for when the cambelt goes and u end up paying 1500 quid on the c card gr.
PS Tristan is a prince among men, i would happly give him my fiance

Escorts, do they still have (Make) Escorts in the UK? Stopped them here in 1980 the RWD versions, Think The Ford Carsair of the late eighties was an Escort in UK, could never keep up with the different names for the same car worldwide etc
They've stopped now, but I think they kept making them until around 2002 I think.....
Had the other main Chav car around here try and beat my car (96 FTO GR) away from the lights taking my gf home tonight! A late nineties Fiesta, with Fog Lights on (obviously) and a busted headlight. I was stationary at a red, he was just a bit behind me looking to go in the right hand lane (meant for turning, it's a one lane road) to get past me. He was still doing 20-30 not quite alongside me as the lights changed...and was quite a bit further behind about 10 seconds later
MR2's are collector's cars around here in the US. My brother had a 1987 MR2 (the really boxy one) with the naturally aspirated 1.6 and manual transmission of course. I was pretty pissed I never got to drive it because he over-revved the damn thing and rotated a crank bearing.
Actually, speaking of that car, I was quite surprised when I looked up the specs on it and found out how heavy it was (2400 lbs, 1089 kg).
