So im flying to England on Thursday and ive got to take all my DJ equipment with me ( CDJ 1000's & DJM 800 )
Now im flying easyjet because im tight.
im allowed 20kg of luggage to which my cdj's will be in ( inmensley bubblewrapped and covered in clothes) the cdj's weigh in at 4.3kg each so 8.6 inc bubble wrap id say thats 9kg

the mixer is coming on board with me as it weighs 8kg and easyjet are so kind to let me use as much weight as i like ( as long as i can lift it myself )

now my question is. Will my cdj's be safe? or at least Safe Ish?
i will be heavily securing them inside the bag as i know airport staff will happily throw it around.

I dont fancy arriving at gatwick to find 1000€ of equipment in 1000 pieces

Anyhow, troll or not by ray, put on some badges on the bag of showing there's something inside that breaks easily, and once you bubblewrap it properly and keep it safe like that I'm quite sure nothing breaks..

Mixer is less fragile then cdj's and doesnt have lenses and displays. (It gets a bit cold up there).

Better switch it. On the other hand, taken laptops aboard (hdds removed) and it was no problem.

Yeah my only choice is to heavily wrap the cdj's in bubble wrap and foam to keep the weight down, they are also strapped in as the case has an elastic holder. lets just hope now i will be getting a fragile sticker put on them before they go

Is there like a special thing at the airport where you check in oversize/fragile luggage, like skis or golf clubs? (you're in spain, there must be somewhere for golf clubs? ) See if you can put them through there. That and lots of fragile stickers. Should be ok once Easyjet have got their hands on them (i.e. once they're on the plane) - you putting them in a hard case? The bag won't move around on the plane very much as it'll be squashed in with all the other bags

not a hard case. they will be going straight into the suitcase :L but they have been bubblewrapped, towel wrapped, foam covered and covered in clothes. they arent going anywhere :P

My concern is when they come off the plane. ive seen how they 'gently' throw your bag onto the lorry :P

Heh yeah true, although I *think* they pack all the fragile stuff together separately so the ramp dude should know it's fragile.

Hmm. Good luck. I don't ever put musical gear in the holds of aeroplanes any more. If I'm playing overseas I arrange rental gear, it saves a whole ton of hassle and worry and hours on the phone with Allianz trying to replace everything the airline smashed.

Well i know in the usa if you put those stickers on they probably would. Go out of their way to break it. It was more of a joke, miro

just to let you all know, the equipment got here safe. athough my fragile sticker dissapeared :L
