My site plan notes
I already have a rough site plan which ive built which might be helpful for covering the basics, theres a couple of things in there which might be useless/outside the scope of this LFS site rebuild, but 99% of it will be relevant and its up to this community to decide if any of it actually worth implementing or not. Their also just my notes, i dunno if we'll implement all of them, or what the others have in mind, but it certainly gives you the gist of things and if theres anything worth adding to the list afterwards i'll update it.

So, ignore anything relating to game selection etc, if theres anything i've missed, or doesnt make sense let me know. Some things arent mentioned cos their obvious, there might be some big oversights but i think this covers quite a lot and is sufficient for a rough site plan.

For confirmation for events, would be a good idea to opt in for email reminders of confirmation openings for each event, and a reminder about the event if confirmed.
Quote from Bmxtwins :For confirmation for events, would be a good idea to opt in for email reminders of confirmation openings for each event, and a reminder about the event if confirmed.

As it was when it was first used on LFSProSeries, there were 4 phases:

1) Booking in open
7 days before event, all accepted members would get an email saying they can confirm their status and lock their place to be on the grid.
2) Final reminder
3 days beforehand, a final reminder, including your current status.
3) Reserve drivers contacted & Last Chance
2 days before the round, anyone who hadnt submitted a confirmation would get a 24hr warning, and all reserve list drivers would be informed how many unclaimed places were available, allowing them to stake a claim for them.
4) Final line-up
24h before the race, an email containing all the drivers signed up, with their team details, as well as the start time and the server password for that round.

How we'd find a balance between assuring users are reminded of their commitments, and getting on their nerves with half a dozen emails a day, im not sure.
When this was used for LFSPS it was a maximum of 5 emails a week, the 3 above, a 'last chance' and also an email for the race report. Thats not intrusive or annoying, but it could get out of hand with multiple events.
I think we could switch to a single email, so you'd get 1 email which would contain any reminders, server details, things like that. If theres nothing to tell, no email is sent. So it'd be 1 for the whole site, rather than each event. It loses the personal touch a league could add, but its borderline spamming i guess, and i wouldnt want people disabling notifications as it partly defeats the object.

Wow that looks awesome, would be cool if it could hook in with thr forum
Yeah, it would be pretty handy if you could have something very similar to the 'LFS News Headlines' box which displayed information relevant to the user. You've got the persons username, and assuming theres some form of line-up list for each event, it should be able to look and see what your race schedule looks like and keep you well informed.

Additionally, if you could bring up a pop-up similar to the 'you've received a PM' window, with a reminder when theres a sessions your signed up for in the next 24hr and some basic details. Thats neither spam-like or overly intrusive/annoying.

As i say, its finding a line between being informative for the users sake (everyone else in the event, its no fun having people missing cos they forgot) and not pestering them to the extent that people want to disable the notifications.
