I wanted to ask for some advice on which system to go with. Now, there are 2 systems, the IGCSE system and American system. Currently, I am in the American system but the IG system starts from next year but I don't know what system to go with. Each of them have their pros and cons so I don't know what to go for. Thanks for the advice!

Both are proberly as crap as each other tbh, Teachers trying to get thier pupils to pass the tests instead of actually teaching them anything.

IIRC the IGCSE has no coursework so go for that, I don't know if the American system does or not. Alot of people hate coursework (myself included) it takes to long and doesn't require any skills in the subject, it's just jumping through hoops.

I had plenty of English & Lit and ICT coursework back when I did IGCSE's It depends on the subject and there might be a possibility to take 'alternative to coursework' exams too. IGCSE isn't terribly hard, just boring. It's easy to pass with top scores even if you aren't a genius provided you revise. It's very theoretical as well, so all you really do is read, read and read. If you'd be taking physics, chem or bio you'd have practicals but they're not exactly mind/bogglingly difficult. I know nothing about the American system though. If you were to go for IGCSE and then later on GCE ('A' levels), they're a bit more challenging. Don't take more than 3 subjects at GCE level or you're screwed (or have no life).

Are you sure you done IGCSE's? they're different from normal gcse's i think :X.

@ NotAnIllusion it sounds like you've taken normal science GCSEs, the IGCSEs do not have the coursework. Science coursework does not require any skills in fact there's no way of telling if you actually did any experiment. It's really jumping through hoops.

To be honest most Americans think that the European approaches to education are better than ours. I wouldn't know. I figure it depends on
whose learning and who's teaching.

But you might wanna base your decision on which college University you're going to want to attend. you've posted something about this before I remember

Well in the American system I found it irritating how teachers assign homework that really doesn't help. They expect us to learn from our homework so they don't have to lecture so much in class. I'm going to Germany next summer with the exchange program and the Germans that came to our school last year talked about their system. Sounded much more strict, but a better way to go. Helps smart people and people that try actually get somewhere...

As a rule of thumb, you should get as much as you can from each.
Europe traditionaly gives you rigorous discipline and thoroughness, the US will force you to be autonomous in situations where you're left with little tutoring in the face of nearly endless possibilities.
