I think F1 cars are already so damn ugly that those wings just made it look stupid but not uglier.
F1 cars aren't really designed to be pretty. They're designed to go fast, very fast.

How can you say the Mclaren isn't beautiful.
From seeing the cars in the flesh at Goodwood the Renault was striking because it wasn't coated in a layer of little wings and fins, it was actually a rather beautiful piece of engineering. Whoever design that Renault got it really right because it obviously didn't need the later less than ideal adjustments.

Because I don't like lying. This year's McLaren is hideous. Especially that nose. I hate how it gets bulbouse at the end, man that looks dumb. Looks like a botched plastic surgery.

i personally agree with my dad on the fact that mclaren has just about always had the best looking car out on the track
and the paint job this year... is just plain amazing
as for the shape, i love it, aero all the way, its an amazing piece of machinery; and as for you maggot, the reason why its like that, is because it creates less downforce compared to the wide noses as everyone else (besides renault, they ran the slim nose at very beginning of season for a race or 2)
as for the tip of it, im not sure exactly why it has that vent there, or why its so large, i do agree with you that up close the very tip is quite unusual

I disagree. In 1969 Lotus had the best looking car. In 1967, Eagle had the best looking car. In 1978 Lotus had the best looking car.
(I can't remember any other specific cars from specific years, so that's all I've listed.) Although, McLaren had some of the best looking Can-Am cars (MMmmm... M8D....) As for the paintjob? IMHO, it is stupid. Someone from McLaren was quoted as saying something along the lines of "We put a lot of time and effort into designing the chrome paintjob." This is F1, not Pimp My Ride. The time and effort spent on that chrome finish should have been put into further development of the car, or working more closely with AMG to develop an engine that doesnt blow up so much.It's still hideous.
I understand that aerodynamically it may be effective, but I highly doubt it is the most effective. I think the Renault is the best looking car this season, but that's not exactly a difficult title to take in F1 these days, they're all so ugly. Look like porcupines some of them with all the crap sticking out into every piece of realestate in the air stream. Ah to have been alive to witness F1 in the 60s and late 70s.... Those were beautiful machines (Except the cars in the mid 70s. They were just odd.) (thisnameistaken)

lotus has always had good looking cars, but.. i was never alive then and rarely see pictures so .. i cant speak of the 60's and 70's lol

A good designer can get best of both worlds. F1 designers are just lazy
They should ban the Mclarens, their paintwork can "impair drivers vision", it could impair everyone's vision!
The sad thing is you're probably right, the silver/chrome color probably reflects the sun much more easily and could blind a driver.
I tryed to do that in NAL last season, make a "hypnotic" LX6 skin to maybe confuse a driver...
A good designer know his priorities.
