I'm writing an application that id like the driver to be able to give instructions too to reconfigure it on the fly, to do this I plan to use Windows keyboard hooks to detect keypresses that are going to LFS.

Before I do this I would like to know if you have any plan to use the number pad keys within LFS itself, so that I can take these keys and use them safe in the knowledge they wont cause a compatability issue.

This is for a pit radio mod as i'd like the driver to be able to request information on the fly.
Shouldn't this be a pm..?
probably.

Becky I'm not sure if Scawen reads this forum at all. Maybe he will notice the thread name though.
AFAIK, 7,8,9, and 0 are all reserved for turning signals

5 and 6 change fov, 1 and 2 for votes and replays...
but I dont know if they also work then using the numbad, not the "normal" numbers under the F-keys
I thought those where all normal number key binds, I will have to check the binds on the number pad when I get home.

At the end of the day if I only have acess to the symbols on the number pad that would still be enough, but it would be pointless me doing it if Scawen plans to use them, if so, I guess i'd look at the pageup/home/insert block.
The home key returns you to your car after tabbing (specing) to someone else's.

Maybe print screen/scroll lock/ pause break?

I am.
I'm hoping that Scawen has plans to use the number pad keys. I'd really love to see the 7,9,1, and 3 toggle whether or not each tire gets changed when pitting. The 8 and 2 keys would be perfect for adjusting brake balance, and the 4 and 6 keys would work for ARB adjustments.

This would take care of several requested features and seems to be a very logical layout.
"-" is already reserved, too
You can use the numpad to send keys presses to LFS but it would never *require* the use of the num pad. Because LFS has to be able to work on a laptop, etc, which doesn't have a numpad.

So you can safely take over the numpad and all LFS functions will still be available. The only problem is that people who normally use the numpad won't be able to use the keys they normally use, if they run your program.
Sounds good. Also 123456789 have almost all the same commands as numkeys?
