Right click on the LFS folder and go into properties. Ensure that the read only is unmarked. If it isn't, uncheck it and tell it to apply to all files and folders inside.

Only one i can think of. It's complicated, illogical, definitely not for casual pc user, high chance you will lose your setups and all settings if u don't follow what i say to the letter, will cost you up to 3 unlocks at the worst, and probably won't work. Luckily windows don't care about logic so we have a fighting chance
Should i continue, cause too lazy to type in vain

EDIT - Few chocolate bars later:
1. Firstly, copy both lfs folders someplace else. Name them so you know which is which (e.g.: lfs unlocking; lfs fu'ed). This backup ensures your data stays safe. We don't need every single file to backup but it's so much easier for me to type it . Delete lfs.exe (EDIT 2: and the uninstall.exe) from both backup lfs folders. Delete the misc folder from the backup of the non-unlocking lfs folder.
2. Get the installation file for 0.6E.
3. Uninstall LFS, if it asks to keep this or that say no. Uninstall it ALL.
4. Guess what, you still have one intact original lfs folder. Uninstall that too, ALL. If the uninstall.exe is missing then just del the crap out of the folder. And del the other original folder if it is still there.

Now you're left with two backup lfs folders but without any registry info about them. And this part you're going to do again little later as i suspect is the culprit of the problem.

5. Install LFS from that exe you got. This install is your main LFS from now, the one you play the most, the one files are associated to. Name it nicely, thick all options. This time you want it ALL.
6. Now you will install lfs the second time but this time you don't want to 'install' it, just extract all the files. Untick all the file associations and what else there is, keep only your vanilla game. This isn't actually installation but extraction. Like extracting an archive. Name the folder what you wish and on to the next step.
7. Don't run the game yet. First copy all the files from the backups. I hope you named them so you know which one goes where, and deleted the exes' (from the backups eh)
8. Run working folder. Should be same as before if not better. I put my hand in fire if it ain't so...
9. Run non-unlocking one and unlock it. This time it should stay unlocked. At worst it will be same as before. To get your driver names back copy over the *.ply files from the misc folder of the first lfs.

Resoning behind all of this is that i think you installed the game twice before, posibly making multiple registry entries for the same thing. And it somehow got screwed up.
This time you'll install it once, and extract the other. For example i have four working LFS folders, only of which one is installed, the latest version.
Del the backups when you're sure you will not need them anymore.

Copy in misc folder F1 F2 F3

copy it to the other one.

If i send you my f's files, you will play on MY account, if you send it to me, it will be your account for me....

If it dont work, try to INSTALL and not copy lfs

Not really correct as you need entry in registry too to have LFS unlocked.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

AFAIK the only keys that are stored are file type associations (and install path if you used the installer, but it is not mandatory).
The fN files have hardware info for stop copying iirc.
Or that. At least copying LFS to USB and try on other PC won't work,as content will be locked.
Did you try running it as admin?
That can do the trick sometimes.
