But if it was an equal playing field with restrictions, surely that would make a difference
I am not ruling out GT cars, its just it is used a lot at the moment on various servers. The TBO / LFR are neglected class's and with the right restrictions, this can be a fantastic close race, that could come down to tactics.
Just thought of another thing that would be good, although it would require Scawen's input. When Pitstop FORCE change of at least one tyre. Now that would be a great "Free Addition"
Well I can't find any servers that has FXR, XRR and FZR except cargame and its multiclass. There's nothing really wrong in TBO, they are just hard to drive with a mouse+keyboard :I
For me, regular track rotation using all the unusual configurations and no voting allowed.
Never multi-class, and more often than not, just single-car. I don't mind some classes, but I'd still rather see a field full of Raceabouts than one of RAC/FZ5/LX6. Same goes for TBO. So just because a car falls in to a class, it doesn't mean you have to allow the entire class.
Frequent short races, all cars except BF1, no quali or practice sessions, no pitstops (what's the point?), reverse and random grids.
I've often though a good grid order would be based on fastest lap. Therefore if you join after race start, you can still do a few laps to get yourself up the grid. I wonder if this is possible with one of the addons.
Of course, I see you're wanting to reverse the grid. May be take another example from BTCC, reverse top 6 to 10 (random). Again done by an addon.
I have Ario running on this server now, so with a little help from my friend...Mr Frozen on getting it running and the restrictions, we might be able to implement all of this.
Again, cheers guys for your input, I really do appreciate it
If I'm being honest Fordman, the way you've hosted the server up until now has been a breath of fresh air quite frankly. Long gone are the days where you get such a friendly atmosphere on a race server alongside properly fun races. Pickup tracks with a pitstop in races that last 8-10 minutes is nice because generally it doesn't take long to be competitive on shorter tracks.
I'm not particularly convinced on your idea of leveling the TBO & LRF class, why not simply rotate through classes? Besides, I imagine the LRF cars are totally different animals with the handicaps you're suggesting.
That's just my opinion on that matter but whatever you do it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.
An emphasis on the XFG and XRG would be superb. Everyone loves racing those.
Hi i hope you dont mind me posting here as its of topic, basically there needs to be some kind of rule were if some 1 is qualifying and in the middle of a fast lap that who ever joins the server they do not decide to press vote for race as it messes up the lap that person is on, usually its people who cant race and dont even no the circuit or auto layout, i get sick and tired of it, i do let it go and race that person but it tends to be a waist of time as i said they cant race and dont no the circuit or layout. A pit of respect sometimes helps, if you join a server and some one is practicing DO NOT VOTE TO RACE ,ASK OR WAIT TILL HE/SHE HAS COMPLETED THERE LAP THEY ARE ON. Sorry to rant on but i needed to get it of me chest.
And fordman nice 1 for getting ur sever up and running hopefully ill join 1 day but atm im addicted to the little MRT.
Hi.
No voting: No voting for track because it always ends up on the same ones if you let people do that.
About classes: yes a multi car class is good for several reasons, but also set it to just one sometimes. Most people always choose the same car in a class, encourage use of the others by setting RAC only, RB4 only etc. It's not compulsory to allow the entire class even if they are balanced well (not that LRF ever can be on every track).
Pitstops: I join a race to race. Why split the cars up with a pitstop? To test how well people can stick to the speed limit and park? It's a bit cruisey imo. I'd rather just race as a pack of cars to the finish.
Random grid. More exciting than a grid based on fastest laps or finishing position, but doesn't target fast people as much as a reverse grid. Obviously only within classes on a multiclass server.
Has anyone tried ordering the grid based on slowest lap:
Take each drivers slowest lap from the previous race (excluding lap 1), and fastest slowest lap gets pole...
or consistency:
whoever has the smallest spread of times between their fastest and slowest laps goes first...
or improvement:
whoever does best in relation to their own PB(on the server?) gets pole.
Finally home, YAY!!!!. I am bringing the server up, but doing some testing with my coder friend Frozen, so it wont be open to the public, just while I finalise somethings.
@Sinbad I here ya about voting and cars / tracks. I will try and alternate pitstops, as some tracks you physically cannot pit any who
@rainspecialist - Time's and days are random as I work away a lot, and I don't want to open a permanent dedicated server as I would like a human admin always present. I will try and give as much notice as possible to when it will be running.
I'm the kind of guy who likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?" I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-o all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener".
When you report a post that has nothing to do with the topic, how long does it take to remove it? I reported it over 2hrs ago, and its still here, and yeah I agree, I actually said WTF?
Never mind there is always one smart a$$ that if he was any sharper, he would actually cut himself
What an amazing nights racing tonight, was clean, fun, fast, and some truly awesome racing battles, how it used to be.
Even Sinbad and Jackolby came out of retirement, was so nice to see old familiar faces but new ones to, mixing it with the old boys, but also thanks to:
Troy, Rob, Eisbaer, Edward ,Gav,& Blackout also for making it a great night.
