The online racing simulator
So my $70 a month isn't enough anymore for this 'free space?'

One thing those guys didn't mention is how much it will cost to visit a page which isn't the Disney home page or whatever 5 sites or 'channels' the ISP's want to set up as their base sites (which you still have to pay for?). If your monthly internet activity works out roughly same as what you pay now then I can't really see too much of a problem (certainly not the end of the internet) and like anything people will naturally gravitate towards the best deals.
The earth isn't flat.

The internet won't end.
This is just a hoax i mean this would also mean internet providers would get a massive loss in customers.

Poeple just spread these things to get attention so i mostly ignore it when i see it
this is a load of shit, why must everyone assume that everything bad will happen in 2012.
i would have called the thread title "ISP's confirm '2012: The Year Real Life Restarts".

On a serious note,

:inq: .

I wouldn't say everyone but there seems to be a group of people who tend to make a religion out of conspiracy theories and then we have the counterpart, the group of people who are denying or ignoring everything and everyone that could stand in conflict with the "so well advanced and cultured" modern world society or dares to question the so called "official facts". I wonder which group of "extremists" is more dangerous in the long run . On topic, consideration is the keyword i guess and personally i really cant believe this is going to happen. This would be like contaminating the air we breath with anthropogenic greenhouse gases or cultivation with the help of pesticides... Oh man im getting sick of those contradictions. Im sorry.
Dont forget guys the world will end in 2012 also,so no worries about the internet..

Most of my friends that got GF wathcing pr0n togheter too
But I'll fit in that cathegory "looking on pr0n since I don't have any gf"
Anyone familiar with the phrase "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"

Sure i have no problem with using blacklists, whitelists etc with_my_own IP filter. But at an ISP level, no thank you. What they log already and store isnt enough already ....?
The problem i see is sooner rather then later that "interested" parties (goverment/coperations) will shape the net for their benefit rather then the users.
Just look at the recent trials with Phorm and other ISP debates with content delivery/monitoring in the last 2 years in the UK alone.

Seems another site picking up on this news

mmm ok i was one year out, youtube sub charges
Well in some way, the Internet is ending. ISPs have failed to implement IPv6 and are all nearly out of IPv4 addresses.

It's to the point where BT are beginning to NAT upto 10 users together under 1 IP address, which breaks port forwarding.
Mind you, that's potentially a bonus for piracy.
Quote from Racer X NZ :Mind you, that's potentially a bonus for piracy.

It still breaks the Internet. You lose the ability to port forward along with people having issues with online gaming as a result of beig jammed into this NAT scheme.

Bad news bears I tell you.
Is really the ISPs not going over to IP6? I though, at least here in Norway, that most of our ISPs have moved over to it.

But then again, been long since I actually read anything about this matter.
ISP's that support IPv6 are in the minority.
