Athlon II X2 280 vs Pentium G2020
Hi,

I need a new PC, but can't decide between AMD Athlon II X2 280 (in MSI 760GA-P43 FX, cooled by Gelid Solution Siberian) and Intel Pentium G2020 (in Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V, cooled by Arctic Alpine 11 Pro rev. 2). Which one would be better for LFS? Both would have 4 GB DDR3 RAM and Gigabyte GV-R775OC-1GI video card, plus a 350 W PSU.
What games or what other stuff do you intend to use the rig for?
for LFS I would definitely go to Intel. Got several G2020 machines in office, and I am very impressed with them for the price. I couldn't hit more than 40 °C with stock cooler at 950 rpm after all kind of benchmarks... also power consumption is pretty good, G2020+H61+8GB DDR3+2xHDD usualy at idle ~25 W, while at full load maximum is 37 W. But I guess for LFS you will use dedicated video card.
OK, I bought the Pentium. My video card will be (I didn't buy one yet) a HD 7750 or a GTX 650.
At this price and performance range I suggest you go with the card you can get cheaper, there's hardly any other meaningful way of comparing these two cards...
