Help
I'm new, I've been playing the servers a bit and I noticed a few things, see if you can help me out.

When approaching a corner, if someone else is already going round the corner and they're in your way, you ram them off the track to get them out of the way.

If someone overtakes you, you have to catch them up and ram the back of their car, again causing them to spin off the track.

You must never slow down for yellow flags, just go full tilt and then abuse people for being in your way.

For a blue flag, never slow down or get out of the way. If someone does, crash into them.

Is that about right?
Yep, 100%.
Well from my brief experience I'd say that you're close.
Had my first time at online racing last night.
I won a race (mainly because it was a sort of tortoise and hare situation), a small field tore past me on a 4-lap race and they both crashed twice so I won. (Apologetically, I might add.)
In the mean time four or five new racers joined the track (WestHill) it was.
As I had won the previous race I was in the front row of the grid.
Stone me I was crunched out of the way before I'd gone ten yards.
It was basically quite ugly stuff throughout and if that is a fair reflection of what to expect I might be tempted to think that I don't belong!
Maybe its my age....

on Demo servers, yes

Maybe. I'm 38, I find I don't need to win all the time, it's cool to have a good race. The same thing happens on other MP games I've played, people get deeply personally upset about losing, reacting agressively and trying to prevent anyone from enjoying the game if they can't win. I can only assume they're teenagers, unable to control their hormonal responses. My hormones are wearing a bit thin these days.

I think part of it is the general human malaise, that sense people have that they are reasonable whilst everyone else is clearly unreasonable, otherwise everyone would agree with them.

Well, at least I now feel I'm not the only one who wants to have fun and learn some skills instead of being obsessed with winning. See you on the track folks.

I think if this is your first experience of lfs online then i apologise, there are people who act stupidly, such as driving u off the road, not letting you pass even though blue flag etc but if you find it again try another server is my suggestion. If you find a good clean one its good and if go there enough people get to know you. Saying that it doesn depend on if you want to race same car/track combos as server dont generally change around much (some seem to change hourly but some are same car / track all the time)
Another option is try joining the CRC - clean racers club(link in sig) or join a league. Although if only got LFS within the last few days a full on league might be too much.
On a side note - im 19 and dont drive like that. Only time i get annoyed is when ive jsut lost a place and as i try to catch up i crash. At which point i spectate and go get drink or something to calm down before next race.
Again i apologise for your bad experience - LFS is better than that, just give it a fair chance. The first time you battle side by side with someone for whole race, while always clean (maybe a little bit of body rubbing lol but nothin serious) then you will know why people love LFS.
Keep searching the server list and trying different servers , theres a whole other side to LFS when a group of mature drivers get together for an evenings fun close racing .
Its a shame more and more first time LFS'ers are experiencing this sort of track behavior , look out for public team servers , some are great places to race with respectful likeminded others.(The cleaner drivers tend to stick together )
The odd door rubbing and bumper nudging still occurs however its normally followed with a "sorry" blind.

Ohhh and add people you find to be of a similar mindset to yourself to your buddy list at LFS World and you can find the cleaner servers easily.

I agree with everyone else, you'll finish up with a list of servers you know you'll enjoy and a list that you know not to visit again. It's just exposure, really. You learn the servers in a similar way to the way you learn the cars. Eventually it all just falls into place, and you'll be able to join a server knowing you'll see good racing from others, and can give them all a good race too.
Quote from Greboth :i apologise for your bad experience

Don't feel bad. If it bothered me that much I'd just go, rather than come here and have a hopefully tongue in cheek sounding whine.

What I love about LFS happened this morning. I was on a server, proving to myself I just couldn't keep up, so I went for a practice on single player. It made me want to get better. Then there's the satisfaction when I finally got round faster than the AI was doing it, now I can go drive on a server (on one track, in one car...) without being 'that bloke that keeps crashing'. You feel really connected to what's going on. I'm all involved and I've only had it two days. Brilliant.

1.when aproachng a corner i think you brake.
2. bumping them is called "bump drafting".(makes car go faster)
3.yea, no one really slows down. Something should be dona about that.
4.for a blue flag you should ethier let the pro overtake you or you slow down.

i think you should stay away from certain servers. At places like ky and the bf1 it's a little insane. At places like fox at westhilll its entertaining. Stay away from bad servers.

at Andres fair and fun Andre will actually ban ppl for wrecking and stuff. It's a really clean servfer.

As has been said, different servers, different experiences.

As as rule I find the "might is right" mentality is a lot less prevalent in LFS when compared with some of the other racing games I've played online.

Keep plugging away, for every server full of clowns who think they can drive through you, there'll be at least one more full of racers who know they have to go around you.

Good post btw, its irony amused me this grey and crappy Monday.

:ices_rofl

He bans just about everybody.

And when an admin is present, wreckers get banned on EVERY server.

Quote from zeugnimod :And when an admin is present, wreckers get banned on EVERY server.

On several servers, wreckers can get banned even when admins are not present. See www.teamccuk.com/wreck for an example. This form dispatches MPRs to other server administrators, not just the TeamCCUK admins. It's getting more and more difficult to be a deliberate wrecker and get away with it, these days

ahh yes, i got ban for going"WTF?" after some guy clearly rammed me at top speed. Also, I never really see an admin present on servers.
Looks like you are on the wrong servers then.

At least on the servers of the bigger teams, there is almost always 1 admin there, if the server is populated.

Hehehe nice skin.
Well i cant speak for other servers, but if you are ever on the mg server and no team members are about and someone is wrecking then we have a place on the forum for posting mpr's showing the wreckers, which will then be banned.
As ive said and been said different servers different people. I think it is bad for LFS noobies to have bad experiece on servers but there are good servers about

go on a server like the [MG] one then, theres normally an admin there watching so the idiots wont be there!
Sometimes it's hard to find somewhere people aren't going to get all snobby. Persistence pays off eventually. I just wish there weren't quite so many unpleasant people.
