Live For Speed Commerical
Do You Think LFS should have a commerical??? Simply Yes or No
#2 - shim
not till S3 is out i think.. let the dev's finish their work so its a fully complete game..
or a commerical for s1 at least
I agree with shim. No mass-marketing until LFS is finished or nearly finished.
I agree. No point advertising something that's not complete yet.
I think word-of-mouth is helping it spread pretty well right now ...

Well I'm glad that's wraped up. "CLOSE!"

....riiiiiight. There's nothing left to say so I thought, hmm. Close *little thumbs up thingy ma bob*

What would be in this commercial if ever there was one? Would it be tacky with explosions and David Hasselhoff? Or some sleek beast like a german car advert?

i thought that "Just racing", "This is S2" and this were quite good
It already has one. This was taken from here.

On TV with one of the big channels? I´m no expert but even I know that it costs a hell of a lot of money and I´m not sure the devs can even afford it. I´d rather they spend the little money they have on developing the sim. Besides who even watches the commercial breaks. I usually change the channel when it starts and even if I do watch it I don´t exactly pay attention or believe what their saying. Also word-of-mouth advertising seems to work for now and the best thing is that it´s free.
It should be like those old calvin klein commercials. A male model sleeking his wet hair back after coming out of the ocean, a chick with ribbons covering her bits writhing on the beach, a big eye staring right into the camera, and a tear of blood coming from the eye that drops onto "Live for Speed" carved into the sand of the beach. The games popularity would explode.
i voted yes, however i think it should be once its out of the alhpa stage. and it should amphasise on it being a "simulator" NOT A GAME. otherwise there would be loads of nfs idiots who dont appreciate racing tracks wanting to mod cars and stuff.
So you want to mass market an unfinished simulator for the global public on telly? Sorry, but it's just a plain bad idea. Come to think of it, I've never seen a simulator commercial on TV (or anywhere else aside from the internet and gaming mags). Sims aren't for the mainstream. Arcade games are however, and those are the ones that are being marketed globally on TV because that marketing actually has some use for them. It would be great waste of efforth and not to mention, loads of money in the case of LFS.

Creating a short but spicy presentation movie of LFS for the internet audience is the smartest commercial move, if LFS wants to gain more popularity. Something that would be produced by LFS movie making gods like DoN and Kamkor.

Yeah! in black & White... The tear of blood would be in vivid color and so would the logo when it was splashed on the sand.... with a haunting classical
piece playing in the back ground.

what sort of commerical? TV? online broadcast?

I don't think there's any need for a commerical....sim racing is a pretty small circle and RSC pretty much cover all of the population, unless we start to appeal to the more general public, people who plays GT4 etc.

If we are going to appeal to that particular market sector, we will have to package LFS so it doesn't look short compare to say GTR2 in a 15 second commercial, that is tough and will require a lot of polishing and even when done, it might not reflect the personality of LFS, and in this world where bigger is better, not much people will appreciate the fact that LFS is a sim made by just three people, so in the end the presentation will end up like a homegrown sim trying to act professional, and they will never know the professionism beyond the obvious - the quality control, the frequent improvement, and that would be a waste.

LFS is cool because it's a new way to do a sim, the fact it's alive and always changing, it's all about the experience itself, an experience that video and audio cannot possibly communicate and that you must try out yourself......and it's not superficial, it's devoted to the cause and we welcome people with the same vision...

I dunno what could express that character of LFS best, but at least most of the commericals has already been putting up too many BS about a companie's attitude, vision, values that ain't in anyway true, and commerical viewers can't really tell what is fake and what is real, I ain't too convinced by TV/online commercials anymore.

Question: what does it explain about "live for speed"?

people won't even understand it being a racing sim after watching that.
Iternet Commercial would be an ok idea, mayb it will edge people on to try out the game, as i only stumbled across LFS and didnt know it existed.
Fix the sounds and bots first and then make a commercial.
Let me resay this... make a banner sort of ad for live for speed rather that a commerical
Dunno about you, but when I see a banner I ignore it as a matter of principle.

Also don't forget that you (yeah, you) are a great medium too. Talk about LFS/start topics on other forums you visit, put a link to LFS in your sigs on other forums, submit a review about it somewhere, stuff like that. That's how i found out about LFS.
A commercial through mainstream channels is total overkill for LFS (not to mention an enormous financial investment) and really misses it's target audience, whether LFS is finished or not.
couple of threads lately about GTR2, rFactor (threats? ) like ppl got nervous about or sth.

ive skimmed thru some videos on google and youtube (search: rfactor gtr2 enthusia) and my choice would be thread=9451]don's slowmo collection[/thread] - it is quite something. Some music is bad and not edited to fit the lenght.
those clips show lfs's bests. don and devs could work that thing out to make it official promo.
I dont think my opinion matters even remotely, it's up to the devs.
