no, you dont know whats causing it, installing the updated drivers caused it to go wrong more often, but that doesnt mean anything, i think the only solution is a windows repair, more likely a format

Don't be silly, if it's driver based, and an updated driver set makes it worse, then a format wouldn't make much difference. And rather then doing that, uninstall the drivers, then run DriverCleaner, then reinstall, if it still does it then a format wont help and the problem is something else, just drivers highlighted it.

im talking about chipset drivers here, i didnt think DriverCleaner could get rid of them?

From memory it does, but I'm not sure. It'd be something you'd have to find out as I'm too lazy to install it again.

im not installing anything until i can install it to my second hdd, and i can only do that once ive ported my extensions across

I have some time in my screwed up schedule, as nothing can happen for 6-8 weeks now anyway, so I have lots of free time I didn't have when you asked before.

Work out a time that's good and I'll try and get there for around then, but I've not been to that area of town in years, so it'd take me a while to find anything, and you'll need to send your address this way.
