Disagree, whilst the points say different(due to key retirements from perez some out of his control) he has shown pace against Hulkenburg quite a few times that nico couldn't touch(Austria was a mega performance by Perez going from 16th to 6th and beating Hulkenburg in the process).
I thought Perez would be beaten quite easily this year by Hulkenburg but honestly in the speed department this year they are very equal.
This year really has been an eye opener on where drivers stand.
Vettel has spent so little time this season running without reliability or performance problems (in all sessions, not just races) that there's not enough data to make a meaningful conclusion. If Vettel had the same level of reliability Ricciardo has enjoyed so far this season the gap would be a lot closer, and may even be in Vettel's favour.
Agreed.
I am not a fan of either Kimi or Alonso...they can both drive a car fast...
Did someone mention about the Ferrari team concentrating efforts on one driver yet? (Proof?..I have none....only history)
Think the standing start rule may put me off the F1 as a whole, its getting silly now.
But this intrested me
Wonder what trickery they have been using that is being prevented?
Alot of the time people say they will quit watching as an empty threat but its noe getting to the point where people will quit watching for good as the change is far too much.
Kimi was epic for most of last season but ended on a low which I for one did not see coming. Cap that with the failure of the team to meet their contractual obligations, namely to pay the man, and you see the edge come off the performance. The failure of Ferrari to plan for the new engine rules properly only puts another boot into the situation. I am surprised Fredando puts up with it tbh. Either way the changes put the fox in with the chickens and I bet conspiracy theorists are having a field day. How much for Lewis to be held back 'technically' to allow a german driver to win in a german car/team'?
Last week F1 bosses announced the approved regulation changes for 2015. Here are the proposed new rules they DIDN’T approve.
Other teams to let Ferrari win one race of their choosing, if they agree to stop whining.
One item made by each sponsor must be carried in the car.
Drivers forced to drink the entire bottle of podium Champagne and then caper about in an amusing manner (except Raikkonen who may ask for another one).
All podium interviews to be conducted by Gerhard Berger, Niki Lauda or anyone else who suffers from Austrian Tourette’s.
TV presenters doing grid walks allowed to carry and use weapons.
Tyres cannot be put in warmers but can be left next to a radiator for a bit.
Tyre choices; soft, medium, extra-hot, cheese & onion
Something involving Timo Glock.
Maldonado to race separately on a Monday when everyone else is safely back home.
A load of shit about a standing re-start after a safety car.
Kimi has underperformed this season for sure, but it's pretty clear he can't perform in a car he isn't comfy in. But as a messiah-believer I know he will figure it out sooner or later and put the haterz down, BAM. Thankfully Vale keeps the flag on top!
Almost every competitive moment between them has been in favour for Ricciardo. I have said it far prior to this season.. and will say it once again. Vetter is nothing more than a midfield driver... if he makes it that far. 4 times world champion.. purely on car advantage nothing more. It's what has really killed F1 for me especially with a marketing company like Red nonsence bad for your health. Only abusing the once highest level of motorsports for their no.1 priority: commercial/marketing benefits.
If there is one outstanding driver I think Alonso has been the very best for many years now.
It's more to do with driving style, how Vettel hit the sweet spot with the blown exhaust and how now he has struggled to change now the cars are fundamentally different. Ricciardo drove a car with much less downforce than Vettel last year and he had no preconception about what a front running car can do. Vettel was also extremely good at handling the fragile Pirellis, but they have gone more coservative now and that advantage has also been curtailed.
I think he'll figure it out. There's no question he's a top class peddler.
Monza perhaps has to leave the calender... one of the few tracks you can still feel a bit of passion coming through the television when looking at a grand prix. Stupid move!
The upside on this matter is.. rumors going that Mugello will appear on the calender. Which is in my opinion one of the most beautiful tracks on the world.
No F1 history though.. Someone is killing F1 badly..( has for me actually already been killed).
When they wanted Suzuka to upgrade, they took the race to Fuji for a couple of seasons. When they wanted Silverstone to upgrade, they tried to take the race to Donington. I don't think this is that different. The races that actually get dropped and aren't wanted on the calendar, nobody mentions until it's already happening.
Disagree, Webber wasn't that bad a driver and i would say he was around Buttons level, he just struggled in the pirelli era.
Vettel is good but is struggling, also Ricciardo could just be that fast, yeah vettel has been unlucky but ricciardo has had his measure completely soo far.
With a bit of luck Bernie has had his chips and will be in gaol with the shares/ownership leverage he has withdrawn and reassigned. He started out as someone of the times and was needed to kick a few backsides but he has megalomaniac written to the core like a stick of brighton rock. The sooner he is kicked out the sooner F1 is fixed. Then all we need to do is ensure big teams do not get unfair allocations of fia money. I am not expecting F1 to be fair in weeks but it would be nice for the playing field to have fewer bumps mid corner.
I don't think Webber was a bad driver. But I do think that those two cars weren't comparable. Besides it is fairly well known by now that Red Bull used quite some 'illegal' stuff on their car. Perhaps they were mostly or only used by vettel to avoid it being obvious when two cars drive around with exactly the same characteristics?
Jacques Villeneuve had an interesting opinion about they way Red Bull is treating Vettel now. He said Red Bull is trying to kill Vettel because he is not good for Red Bull's image. For the Dutchies: Red Bull killing Vettel.
Now i'm not trying to present this as a factual thing. But as I just graduated as a Marketing management specialist, and knowing/seeing how much red Bull leans on marketing, I regard this as possible.
Quite contradictive to my previous statement.. although I keep on saying.. Vettel is nothing special. It's a killer but.. If Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg would have been in a car with the same capabilities... I'm pretty sure Vettel would not even have a small chance to get 4th position in the championship. It has only been the car why he became champion. And Ricciardo is showing this in a lovely way
