The online racing simulator
RWD Touringcar (With not too much HP)
Hi there,

it has probably been suggested a million times but I still want to take the chance and make a case.

Probably the closes racing you see in real life are the likes of WTCC, BTCC etc. BMW 320is etc.

The closest you can get in LFS is the XFR and its so much fun. It also delivers probably the closest races you can get including some fun. In my point of view its because it has all the advantages of a touring car like slicks, supsension, track, sequential gearbox etc. Unfortunately its FWD. I would love, simply love if there would be RWD competitor for the XFR.

A very direct and responsive kind of car.

Alternatively there could be a new class, with up to 280-300HP. But not more, above that, things get too powerful and close racing gets harder/more dangerous.

LFS would profit so much by this. There never was and so far there is no great Toruing Car Simulation out there...

Please!
Kind of remind me of Bob Smith's "NASCAR Experiment" patch for LFS 0.5X. Using LFSTweak to emulate NASCAR specs on an (RWD) FXO. Far from your average S2000/NGTC touring car, but really a hige blast.
FZR, intake restriction?

Obviously the tyres are extremely wide compared to the FWD GTRs so even with the least possible downforce setting they would get greater cornering speeds and especially the braking performance would be ridiculous.

A proper n/a FR layout car with slicks would be desired, it could feature an I5 or V6 to spice things up a bit. :]

You can always fiddle with the camber to achieve that but I get what you're saying. Nothing quite like a RWD hatch... Clio V6 anyone?

That is another problem with this class, they don't necessarily have to be hatchbacks. UFR and XFR have rather high centers of gravity. The way tracks like Blackwood, Fern Bay or even Aston are designed force you to exploit curb cutting to be among the fastest, but that also means you will flick the car over in many occasions. I also think it's got something to do with the way suspensions and diff slip/lock are set up with FWD cars.

Lots of valid points from you 5tag, I could not have argued better: Low CoG, Slicks (not too wide), sedan dimensions. This would be perfect.

I totally agree with Warper (which actually costs me quite an effort to write, but, well, guess he's right this time ) and also 5TAG on their reasoning why a proper RWD super touring car is definitely missing in LFS.

This is not just another "Cars we'd like to see in Patch x.x or S3"-Thread, it's about the ONLY truly missing car in LFS.

What, more than a proper race prepared rally car for the rallycross tracks? To me, that's the most obvious. To someone else, it could be something else which is missing.

What would that be? A proper rallye cross car?
Yes, something like an RBR, much lighter, double wishbone front and rear with more travel, sequential box, 350-400bhp, etc.

But I'm digressing here. This thread is about a RWD touring car, which would be nice.

FXR, intake restriction?

Ok, seriously, from my point of view LFS is mostly about road racing and we got pretty much everything one could want to do so: Enough production cars (FWD, RWD, AWD), enough open-wheelers and a selection of GT cars (RWD and AWD). But, for whatever reason, there are only FWD touring cars.

I do understand that there are more suitable cars for rallyecross and maybe also for oval racing, drifting or cruising than the given selection and I wouldn't mind if Scawen offered cars for every purpose, but for some close (tarmac) racing action between non-alien spare time drivers a RWD super touring car is missing the most.

Just something, an average driver like me can handle, which is still quick and challenging enough for the wider tracks and doesn't force you to torture your front wheels in order to be quick. I love the XFR, but the diff settings and tyre combinations (e.g. R3/R2) which allow for low lap times in a 5-lap race (usually not more though), result in a quite annoying driving and wear behaviour.

I couldnt agree more.

Another point is, that I simply dont understand why it wasnt always part of the LFS package. Especially since Touring Car Racing has such a huge heritage in the UK and all over Europe.

What comes to mind when reading the title is an N/A XR touring car. Slicks and a high performance N/A 2.0. Just a few adjustments away

Yes! That could be the easiest way to achieve this.

It would be an easy way indeed but do we really want yet another one of the XR kind? It's not particularly pretty and in a way I'm sick of it (Drifters).
Live for Speed needs fresh content and when I think of RWD touring cars I'm thinking of (old) DTM's 190 Evo or BTCC's E36 320i, modest looking, sporty saloons slammed to the ground with huge wheels and aggresive aero kits.

So yeah, something along those lines for me, please.

Racingcar porn! I am all in, basically this is exactly what I meant. This would be the dream

Well all of them are FWD though. :P Not that I would mind such cars either, the XFR already has most of the necessary ingredients except for dimensions (wheelbase too short, COG too high).

I couldn't find any data sheets for 90's BTCC cars but modified the FXO with NTO and LFS-Tweak.
965kg
2.0L R4 (sounds better :P)
298 PS @ 8100 rpm, rev limit is 9000
6-speed box, 1st usable to 110 km/h, top speed ~260 km/h
slick tyres

Only thing I can't have tweaked is aerodynamics (downforce) and suspension type/travel (I want 19" wheels that hide under the fenders *_*). Anyways it's a very enjoyable car to drive, nothing quite like the XFR though - in a positive way! Oh and it makes a nasty sound.
That sounds really like fun! I honestly have no idea anymore, the last time I used Tweak was like 5 years ago. Have to look for downloads. And what is NTO?

Maybe we can create a host for this
#23 - 5tag
NTO (NewTweakOrder) is another tweaking program, with a lot of options for all the non-Demo cars, but one or two drawbacks. That's why I use both programs at the same time.

I have a seperate 0.6E installation as that's what these program run with. If you have 0.6F you can simply swap the lfs.exe with the 0.6E version (Scawen attached it to a post some time ago), however with 0.6G this is not possible anymore.

The Server I usually join to fiddle with tweaks is 42D MultiMod. Most of the time it's populated by drifters and drag racers and half the time there's an open config track on, so racers have to be lucky.
