To be honest, people rave about anything and everything mod wise. Find me a thread announcing content of acceptable standard that isn't met with giggles of excitement. That doesn't mean people would swap LaFerrari for Laguna.
I'm not really in either "camp". It's all pixels to me, I'm sat still either way. I suppose I just like cars that are interesting in some way (sometimes that interest is that they're so ordinary, which is strange when I think about it, but something like a Volvo 850 Estate on the Nordschleife is more interesting to me than an 458GT3 at Silverstone.) The Toyota list interesting. A stock Supra for better or worse, a stock Celica (which version?) an AE86 (cult car very evocative if you have any interest in Japanese car culture) and the GT86 which is by all accounts a really good car and could provide good online racing (in a proper online racing sim). Except nobody will drive it online because they care about "going fast" so why drive the slow version with skinny tyres and no grip if there's a race version? And nobody will drive the stock versions of the other cars because AC just offer these tuned stages, and very few people are interested in the slower version with crappy tyres. Only car I don't find interesting is the LMP, they're just meh in sims imo.
So in answer to your post. Look how many people are racing the Fiat 500 online. Fwiw I'm closer to your viewpoint than theirs.
Maybe ask for refund.

As for fwd cars I'd love to see 60s mini or some xfr/UFR type of car. Even integra type r would be nice. Although I'd probably enjoy any decent rwd car more.
I have 6950 (windows 8.1+ i5-4440) as well and I don't get freezes. Or I did once straight after some of the patches but I think it was either join lag or simply fps stutters when driving past the pits filled with high poly cobras. My freezes only happened online. Do you get the freezes offline too? Have you ran any unofficial ati tools to turn off the view frames forward thing?
Anyway, those fps numbers I quoted were offline and while I wasn't getting any freezing I'm definitely not getting the fps I want to get with the graphics I want to run. So what's a good mid-to-high-end GPU these days under $300 USD?
They had a public poll for the "public" to vote on what cars they would like included. It's quite clear that people who want FWD cars are of the minority.
If FWD cars is all that "the public" wants , there would be tons of mods featuring them - but there aren't, because 99% of FWD cars are horrible and boring to drive as they're primarily designed for people who don't have the slightest idea of vehicle dynamics.
Personally, I'm chuffed about this update. I think an SW20 MR2 would have been a better choice over the (FWD?) Celica, but great lineup as it is. I really didn't expect an AE86 or a MK4 Supra to be included officially, but I'm glad they are.
That's mostly because people are waiting for solid axle physics needed for typical hot hatch live rear axles. There are exploits allowing extreme forms of DWB act as a solid unit, but those rarely work realistically.
Same with the handfull of 99% finished rally cars waiting for AWD physics. . The expected quality for mods is really high already.
And all people are on about is diversity. We have a diesel race truck already and someone is building a Top Fuel dragster
Sounds like Fordman's concept of "the public" does not include the 15 years old crashers who boost testosterone levels with Ferrari sound clips and have no clue about driving techniques*.
Unfortunately democratic voting alone won't help getting rid of those when they are the majority to begin with. Kunos did try to suppress them a bit with their last title. SCi arguably did the same with RBR, by being indifferent on the marketing front (so did our devs?). We all know what happened.
* I didn't say those who understand driving should prefer FWD or anything. But compared to 15yr crashers those driving-dynamics-aware are much more likely to show a appreciation for good FWD cars.
Nobody is hating on japanese cars there Scroll through this list, plenty of japanese cars in the works. But it takes time. You could of course go the easy way and help yourself to a readily available model from Forza, DiRT or whatever and build your physics for that. Would be illegal tho (like the Escort, M3, Civic and Golf Mk3 available for download in this thread ...)
Cool, thanks for that list ACCAkut, never seen that before. There is some great one's in there, just hope the physics matches drivability
And just to confirm, I don't hate RWD or single seaters for that matter, just IMO we have enough to throw a stick at already, so a bit more variety (more single seaters for example, like a FF1600) or the like would be a great welcome....Not everything has to have ,000's of horse power to be fun. I just wanted to add, that I have a family background with Grass Roots/low budget racing, but never had the opportunity to do it myself. There has only been one game that did this, and that was Toca 2 (Formula Ford and Fiesta's) all other sim's (not tried RFactor2) concentrated on high end, high powered cars, GT's and F1, so it's not a case of I don't like them, it is my personal preference and a hole in the market that has been missed for a very long time.
Fordie
PS - Talking of which (FF1600) why didn't Kudos convert their own car from Netkar Pro. I never tried it, just saw videos and that looks fun
