Im "new" to LFS (played some at friends house years ago)
Im considering buying the game (S2 ofc) since this is still the most realworld physics wise (none of that Need for speed 5000 Mp/s bullshit), but I need some info without reading for hours here.
I'm only interested in drifting.

1. Do I still need cheatengine to tune engine HP and stuff?
2. Still able to download custom cars/skins/sounds?
3. Can I host my own server on my private server at home? (cost?) And can I tweak rules and settings on server?
4. Can I play with friends (online on my own private server) on custom maps?
5. Can i play with friends (online on my own private server) WITH cheatengine/other tweaks (if its needed)? (aka not use official rules)

Cars mods are not allowed.

mods as in downloaded cars? or mods like cheatengine?
And not allowed do you mean singleplayer, publicservers or privateservers?

You can do whatever you want on your server with your friends, just don't expect support or answers to your questions regarding vob mods (downloaded cars).

What is this I hear about 3 unlocks a week?

It is only when you have a licence. You are demo, so you wont get those error.

When you buy the game, you get a gamepassword. With the password you can unlock S2. If you "lose" the game for some reason, like deleting HDD or new computer then you can unlock it again, 3 times a week. So you can format your HDD three times per week, if you wish to, and still play.

It's not actually 3 times per week. When you buy licence,you get 3 unlocks. If you have used them,every friday you get 1 aditional unlock until you have 2 unlocks.
Everytime you enter your username and gamepassword in LFS unlock menu and hit unlock (when content is locked),you use one of them. Basically you can unlock LFS on many computers as long as you have available unlocks,but only one of them can be online (in server or loading server list).

ah, I thought each friday it just resets to 3 unlocks. Either way it only matters if you need to re-install or similiar.
