The online racing simulator
Quote from Mysho :Is there any LFS action going on anytime?

I've been hosting some events via the LFS AC steamgroup, interest has been mostly low though and since the AC linux server is pretty CPU hungry I dont want to run it 24/7. If you didnt join it already you may want to so you get reminders for events.

Is there any solution/workaround for the sounds? I can hear anything just fine except the engine sound, mid engine cars is the worst.
had a race today which was pretty good.

2 WR drivers, 1 who won (z4), and the other in the silver SLS.

Always entertaining to spend 30 minutes in a GT2/GT3 car then jump in the LaFerrari or similar supercar. Going through Eau Rouge yeaaaah so much power up the hill then you get to Les Combes and the car just... won't stop. Oops.

Z4 is one of the cars which has a propper fmod sound effect. (External) the other two are gt2 458 and the cobra which has both internal and external.

Nice race, although the Beemer did quite some aggressive defending, to say the least...

Is that standard tyre squeal? This is almost Hollywood-level of tyre noise - the only time I ever heard slicks squealing in real life was when somebody was getting way out of shape or was already in the process of crashing...
i had my tyre sounds turned up, i was testing something i just forgot to turn it down
That BMW driver was driving like a dick. He is lucky you gave him plenty of space.
I hadn't played AC for a long while, and I have to say version 1.0 is a massive improvement over previous versions in terms of graphics optimisation and physics. The first time I've really enjoyed driving it to be honest.

Hopefully they'll work on how the cars collide with the environment next, and get rid of the invisible walls on the hill climb.

Promising stuff though.

Lol, very rarely do hotlappers have good racecraft, thus dont make very good racers.

I drove knowing this

And in terms of MP, LFS is still the best of any Sim.

and why you found it arcady ?

did you even test it ?

You think i would not play that game, then make such a comment.

It feels like i'm playing need for speed, in terms of looks.

Yes the physics are good, but not great.
Whats wrong with how need for speed 'looks' ?

Apart from all the glare, blur etc its actually auite a decent looking game.

Anyway,

I cant sit here and look at this pic and think it looks bad..

In reality i think it looks very good, genuine and almost perfect..

This pic btw was taken straight from mu game with NO editing at all.
I think I pressed some button and now the half of the setup menu has vanished:

Any idea how to get it back?
For people with Nvidia GTX 4xx and higher:

Latest driver added DSR (Google) into Nvidia control panel settings... In my case I could double the resolution without having AA turned on in-game which kinda took some FPS down but it's still playable and what's more important there are no jaggies anymore!

You can use CS:GO as a reference game. AC has no native support yet. But with this technology my built looks awesome.

edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSUSYaa6C9s How it works video.

FWIW: You don't need a game to have native support. Most games will show the DSR resolution in the resolution options. As well, you can always setup a profile in nVidia Experience to force the DSR resolution.

Checking AC right now to see if it does show up, but in DOTA, the larger resolution shows up for me without any work.

Yeah, it works that way also in AC. What I meant by native support was that if you for example double resolution using DSR your UI becomes incredibly small and unreadable... But this is not a big deal for people like me who are driving without UI. For example if you do exact same action in CS Go, resolution doubles and UI looks as if it was 1200p. It least in my case.
Yeah, although the situation you've described is the problem that Windows has in general with pixel doubling (which is what DSR is). High resolution screens are either unusable (because small UI) or you jack up the DPI in settings (which causes weird issues in applications that are unaware of DPI scaling (which includes first party applications like Office.)

OS X actually does high resolution screens properly and the entire UI from the ground up "just works", and even making applications compatible is as simple as just adding @2x assets (if you use NSImage) or writing a small abstraction in your asset loading to retrieve the @2x version if you're on a display with a pixel ratio of >1.
is that another version of blackwood i see there.. looking.. awesome.
That diffrence, very nice

Between real LFS and that sharpened screenshot on the left and the softened screenshot on the right?

Yeah. It's some difference but to call it nice, no.

At least LFS doesn't have the silly grass/fern stuff. That looks very out of place.

Quote from Töki (HUN) : the AC one will still kick its ass by miles. :|

I think this is the same discussion between Picasso or Dali. It's a matter of taste.

Didn't look at the latest AC version of Blackwood. (Is there a new version at all?) .. But that screenshot looks ugly as hell. Gives me a feeling of http://oi41.tinypic.com/10ngqj4.jpg but worse (released 2004 by the way).

Hey they still have that nonsense ...
Ford license.

Would love some vintage race cars. Galaxies, cortinas, capris, escorts, rs200, sierras and falcons... and some imsa stuff would be amazing. Hopefully it is not just ford gt3, mustang something and a focus probably.
