I don't know exactly, never heard of that. From a search the added S looks a France only thing and it's the same thing.

according to some forum posts it should be :
- only a packaging difference according to the year of production ...
- having some more robust parts ...

As low as £9.90 on ebay buy it now and ebay is full of boxed new ones for sale oddly enough. I don't and won't ever have an iphone, so didn't bother.
