Noob question here.
Is this game a one time purchase for a licence or a monthly payment?

[S1/S2]
Very Sorry, I should of put this in the beginner section, maybe?
It's a one off payment, you pay for S1 or S2 and get an unlock code, you don't need to download anything else either if you already LFS installed for the demo.

Sweet, always wanted this game, now I shall get it in the near future.

Played demo since back in like 2011/2012

Welcome to the family Smile
I noticed that the front page is much more inviting with it's Online Racing Activity and such. After reading this thread I believe it would be much more inviting for new-comers to read something as "No Monthly Fees, you only buy it once" or something like that.
There are so many hidden fees these days everywhere online, I'm sure LFS could capitalize on it's pay once approach to get more customers.
Yeah I've seen it too on the bottom right of the license page but I meant it more like on the main page to make it more prominent for those visiting the LFS website for the first time. I really like the new design btw!
Quote from Flame CZE :It says so about the licences at the bottom and right column of the buy LFS license page: https://www.lfs.net/shop/licenseselect

Yes but that doesn't mean it couldn't be streamlined...

All it needs to say is it's a one time purchase and how many uses you get [2 active 3 total I think]

The main issue is the "Shop" page before that it uses the word "Upgrade" which on many sites means a monthly subscription based payment... call it absurd to assume this but I'm sure this has happened to others before.

You have three unlocks initially, then two all other times to use. Every Friday, the system checks your number of unlocks remaining, and if it is less than two, it resets you to two available. Once you unlock a PC, it stays unlocked, so you can have multiple machines licenced to your name - only one is able to check in at a time. You can use your S2 licence on multiple computers if you are doing a LAN host, though

It says on the https://www.lfs.net/shop/licenseselect page that "LFS Licences are for life". That's the page you're taken to if you click "Buy additional content" on the main page.
Should I buy S1, if I do I assume you can just upgrade to S2 for the same money @ a later date.

I believe I seen info on that in a thread.

However, S1 doesn't have much content, but I can maybe get S1 today, where as S2 I may have to wait until November to get it for reasons.

Although S1 tracks are the big difference there.

But... Autocross isn't really a track so much as what appears to be a drag strip.

For the Canadian dollar

S1 : 12 BP = $25 - [CAD - $24.84]
S2 : 24 BP = $50 - [CAD - $49.68]

The Canadian dollar is in the bottom of a rusty ol' bucket right now.

You can get "half" (S1) now and "second half" (S2) later or S2 at once, will be same price.
Only problem is that in servers/leagues/events S1 and S2 stuff gets mixed, so with only S1 might feel locked out. For offline that does not matter of course.

Autocross map has a dragstrip but its main use is the parking lot Similiar to Blackwood parking lot but bigger. With editor (not in demo) you can place pylons/walls/ramps etc to build custom slaloms or tracks.
