The online racing simulator
Any patch in the works for AI pit stops?
I was wondering if the AI will be able to pit anytime soon. Its been over a year since S2 went Beta and I still can't run an endurance race against the AI for strategy purposes.
no word on it yet..

expect it by the final release of S2
(and dont ask when that is, because either you'll get the answer "soon" [which is never.. soon] or you'll get "when it comes")
S2 will not hit Beta until the AI pitstops are included, Scavier said so in an AutoSim Sport interview (Scawen himself IIRC).

Don't expect Beta stage for quite some time, though. I'd hazard a guess at about a year until Beta status. The beta stage should be quick though because we've been bug-testing S2 for over a year

So by next year we can expect a beta?

you can only make those jokes if you have a license.
It's those people who piss me off, who freeload on content, then insult the game . It's called 50$ USD, Learn it, Meet it, Send it...
Down boy!
/me looks for the Chocolate Ice Cream... WITH Nuts... :P
I wonder why this thread is still open?
(Who cares about AI anyway)
It's only been open for a few hours, jeez!

People who can't beat humans care about AI. Nah j/k, I wouldn't mind decent AI but atm I couldn't care less how stupid they are. Plenty of humans to race

LFS has got to have a decent enough SinglePlayer. There are lots that like to play against computer players, and AI are quite fun if they drive at your level... they really are. If AI don't get improved before S2 is all finished, that is a bad idea. But I know that AI will take a long time to get right for Scawen, so I am praying it is done. Then everyone will be happy

i cant wait it would be nice to have some competitive ai to race against. there are some car+track combos that are pretty much never populated with more than 1 human driver online.

i'd like to have a decent race on something besides aston national and blackwood as soon as i jump on... and that will only happen with decent AI.

I don't see what is so offensive about someone asking when the beta is out, don't be so hostile just because he's a demo racer.

Right now, me ...

I'm interning in Florida for the summer, about 350 miles South from college in South Carolina. I'm only here for three months so I couldn't get any internet... it gets worse...

I graduate in December, so I am renting an apartment for about 4 months when I get back to school. I'm hopefull I can get a short term internet contract without getting charged up the wazzoo, but I'm not holding my breath.

By the time I get out of school and into a job somewhere, I could be 8 months without any multiplayer !!! Playing any other racing game just doesn't feel the same as LFS, but being single player only, the AI is sadly not all there yet.

For people in situations like mine, the single player is all we have right now, and AI changes mean a lot. (On an Up Note: I am building a new PC so will be able to have some head-to-head lan challenges with friends)

Just as a personal hint to srdsprinter. Get your hands on Richard Burns Rally. Great game, an absolute blast, and needs no internet.

About beta-stage:
Summer 2007 looks like a good bet.

i was joking

When I see you online on LFSW I'll always join and have a go, so maybe you're just never online when I look at LFSW. Shame on you. Besides, you'd only lose

Likewise I was surprised how much quicker in the same couple of corners I was. But then, I also had a couple more offs than you (though I still beat you ), so sometimes slow and steady really does win over fast and risky.

Wow, this is the nicest community I've met in years... better than GTR2/rFactor/F1C/etc.... illepall

the demo players of today are s2 players of tommorow. give the demo players a break. i know some of them ar total fu*kwits but onestly, jus lay of them.
I agree that AI is important. Even though I race online a fair bit, I enjoy racing the AI as well. Especially when I want to run a combo that nobody is currently hosting. It would be nice to jump on and have a good 30 minute race without having to worry about finding/starting a server, getting enough people to join, having people that are clean drivers, running similar times, etc.

Once the AI can account for fuel load, can account for camber on roads, and can pit, I think I'll be racing the AI a lot more often. Or, racing two or three friends, with the rest of the grid filled out with AI.
I could do without the AI fuel loads, camber problems and pit fixes for now. I just want AI that won't run me off the road. I've tried to train them as much as I can, but they continue to just plow through me.

I also want the AI themselves to pass eachother more often, make more pass attempts, etc. They seem to pretty much just go through the track as a train.

not to change the subject but I agree to this. It seems exceedingly difficult to program competitive AI that drive efficiently, but also have human characteristics of occasional errors, or to try and outbrake and push past the limits to pass one another or a human driver.

It does grow slightly dull to be in a line of AI where each car hits the brakes at the same exact point, slows to exactly the same speed, takes exactly the same line, etc... Though it is funny to watch when the AI do the lemming thing, the first one totally gets the line/speed wrong sliding off the track, followed precisely by the next and so on.
yes i really hope that we get better ai soon...

GTR_Yuni, i thought you would have bought s2 by now lol. its been a while dude.
