All-Wheel-Drive Winter Series 2016 - information and sign-ups

The winter is comming,in northern part of Europe it means snow and slippery road conditions as a result of snowing. What's the best way to have fun in this cold season? Pack out your all-wheel-drive car and go to a lonesome icy road or frozen lake! This is how the idea of this league has born - take LFS's both all-wheel-drive cars, use modified road sign "Slippery road" as logo, plan a callendar to have a nice variety of racing experience and here we go - it's time for:

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2016

The 5th season will feature 6 rounds like last year - 3 rounds with each of two LFS's all-wheel-drive cars: a rallycross round,a street course and a road course round with the slower RB4 GT and one each from a rallycross, oval and road course rounds for the faster FXO GTR.
This season will be the most different from other seasons in terms of tracks/cars combinations - Jamaican Trophy now will be driven with the FXR,while NewYear City Challenge will feature an RB4 race, other changes include move of the fastest round Winter 200 up from last round position to 4th round and removal of Blackwood RXGP,as it has been there every year already. If last season was the first one to feature Westhill, this year the renewed environment will be visited twice - for the round 3 we will use freshly built rallycross track using Westhill Karting National tarmac and offroad grass sections, while final round of the season will be run on the shorter of big configurations. Also this year best few drivers will receive small money prizes for their performance and effort.

Series will remain in same day and same time as last 2 years - sunday evenings at 19:00 UTC (20:00 CET / 21:00 EET) starting in 20th december and returning every 2nd sunday with final round taking place in 28th february.

Series schedule:
20.12.2015. Round 1 - Jamaican Trophy (FXR @ Fern Bay Rallycross, 35 laps / 71km)
03.01.2016. Round 2 - NewYear City Challenge (RB4 @ South City City Long, 22 laps / 89km)
17.01.2016. Round 3 - Rallycross Trophy of Westhill (RB4 @ Westhill Rallycross RGE*, 26 laps / 44km)
31.01.2016. Round 4 - Winter 200 (FXR @ Kyoto Oval, 67 laps / 201km)
14.02.2016. Round 5 - Aston GP (RB4 @ Aston East Chicanes*, 15 laps / 97km)
28.02.2016. Round 6 - Westhill GP (FXR @ Westhill National, 27 / 119km)

* Layouts available as attachments
Each round will have a specific info post in this thread with all information of the round!
After round 5,no new sign-ups will be accepted. In last round only drivers received at least one point in standings will be allowed to participate!

Timetable:
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET
- 20 minutes of qualifying
19:30 UTC / 20:30 CET / 21:30 EET - race start

Special notes on qualifying:
* In round 4 will be used hotlap qualifying, this means there will be no specific lenght of qualification, every driver will run alone and have outlap and 2 hotlaps. Qualifying oreder will be determined by points standings - the highest ranked driver will start his qualifying run last, lowest - first. Race start will be approx. 10 minutes after qualifying.
* If there is no max allowed grid (40 cars),drivers championship top 10 drivers will be allowed to start from end of the grid if came late and missed qualification - noone else will be allowed to start without qualifying. In round 1 this top 10 will be taken from last season's final standings.

Championships:
AWS Drivers Champion - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through all 6 rounds, including attendance bonus points
AWS FXR Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 3 rounds run with FXO GTR (rounds 1; 4 and 6)
AWS RB4 Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 3 rounds run with RB4 GT (rounds 2;3 and 5)
AWS Cross Challenge Winner - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run in rallycross tracks (rounds 1 and 3)
AWS Rookie of the Year - awarded to a driver, who hasn't started a single AWS race before this season, with the most points scored through all 6 rounds, including attendance bonus points
AWS Teams Champion - awarded to a team with the most points scored through all 6 rounds (team will score finishing points from it's 2 highest finished drivers and all round bonus points)
AWS Nations Cup Winner - awarded to a nation with the most points scored through all 6 rounds (nation will score finishing points from it's 2 highest finished drivers and all round bonus points)

In all championships - in case of a tie, higher rated will be driver/team/nation with highest finishing position,if equal - it's amount,if equal - second highest position etc. If all finishing positions happen to be equal, higher rated will be selected using same system from qualifying results. If they also happen to be equal then as a tie-breaker will be used last round finishing position. In case a tied driver had a disqualification in one or more rounds,it counts as a primary rating lowering factor, when deciding tiebreak.

Rules:
We will not make a mile long rule book that noone will read completely anyway,so we will rely on common sence of competitors to behave and follow the basic Rules of Clean Racing. There will not be an admin in server who will specifically observe drivers' behaviour during the race. If any incidents reported/protested,we will take individual approach to each of them to decide best resolution or punishment if needed.

Basic guidelines as a reminder:
> Blue flag - you may not deny/block a passing manouvre of laping car and try a repass right after it. In qualification it means - stay off racing line and don't disturb drivers on hotlap.
> Shortcuts - 2 wheels on track at all times.
> Pit exit - allthough there will be no mandatory pitstop in this league, pit exit lines will have to be respected! Everyone caught crossing pit exit lines with more than 2 wheels will receive 10 seconds penalty added to finish result. In round 4,which is held in KY Oval also pit entry must be respected - driver have to enter pits on apron before turn 3.
> Chatting - it's not completely outruled, but still drivers are expected to concentrate on racing. In case of too much chatting while ignoring messages asking to cease chatting,a penalty may be given. In case of any abusive/offensive language a penalty will be given!
> Lags - if there are any connection issues, driver will be asked to improve (close internet using programs). If driver will be considered as dangerous due to unstable connection,he will not be allowed to participate.
> Button clutch - is forbidden! Everyone caught using it will be penalized for unsportsmanlike behaviour with increased penalty for every next offence.
> "Wallride" - track of round 1 (FE5) is known for a possibility to use this unrealistic "cheat" in few turns,if anyone will be seen using this before race, layout objects will be placed near these walls increasing possibility of damage in case of "normal" race incident. In race - penalty for unsportsmanlike behaviour will be given.
> Hacks/cheats - if used, you will not race with us. Ever. As simple as that.

Possible penalties:
> WARNING - any minor infraction that needs to be noted without penalty. Warned driver might receive bigger penalty for other infractions.
> 10s added to finish time - minor infractions like pit exit line violation, too much chatting.
> 30s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in round 4) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] without serious consequences or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> 60s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in round 1 / 2 laps penalty in round 4) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] with consequences to other drivers (like damage, multiple position loss) or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> Disqualification for 1 or more rounds - heavy infractions, multiple incidents, unsportsmanlike behaviour. After serving disqualification, driver will automatically carry a "warning" for the rest of season.
> Series exclusion (including ban for any other events run under Race Green Events control) - serious infractions like intentional/revenge wrecking, event sabotage and any other malicious act.

Round 1

Sunday,20th December
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET

Jamaican Trophy has always been a hot race - high tire temperatures, hot drivers' tempers, but this year we turn the heat even higher as this time we gonna race the faster AWD car - FXO GTR! Inproper cars does not hold this car that much up as laptimes are quite a bit faster then the ones with RB4,expect best drivers do 1:05 or even under it as their best qualifying laps! Patience and ability to control seamingly uncontrollable slides will be the key to success!

This will be season opener and also first from 2 races towards Cross Challenge award - if for the main title this will be just first points collectings, the smaller trophy will be that much closer to winner of this race.

Round info:
Track: Fern Bay Rallycross (FE5)
Laps: 35 (71km)
Car: FXR
Previous winners (all with RB4): CoRe A.Laipnieks(2015) RGˆMatiss (2014), CoRe T.Lähteenmäki (2013), spdoreno (2012)

Server info and password will be PM'ed during saturday (european time) to all entrants, until then server remains publically accessible:

Round 1 official results / Round 2 info

The switch for FXR rallycross round from Blackwood to Fern Bay could be described as failure - if in Blackwood quite many drivers still were battling the car with wrong tyres on the slippery gravel surface, only 7 were ready to do same in a bit more demanding Fern Bay Rallycross track. Fastest of them without doubt was the finnish driver A.Valta, who set unbeatable time in qualifying and pulled away from the rest in race to secure himself first win of AWS. His teammate T.Savilaakso was the other driver to beat 1:05 laptime in qualifying and after battling through top half of field after losing pace early on,he returned to his starting position in finish,A.Rozītis had to consede and settle for the last step on podium.

After round 1 of 6,first impressions are made towards championship, but of course many things are possible with most of the season to come with 6 round 1 finishers having some slight advantage over anyone else who might join from round 2 on.

World Class Lions have collected all possible 30 points towards Teams Championship in round one and took the lead after round one with Race Green Autosports trailing by 12 points. In Nation's Cup the situation is similar - Finland took all 30 points, while Latvia trails by 9 points.

Round 2

Sunday,3rd January
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET

Round 2 brings AWS to the only LFS urban race track, this time bringing the RB4 GT with it instead of FXR like before. What will change? Not much - track is still narrow and twisty, cars are quite heavy in handling - everyone, who finishes the race without a single scratch on the car is either very good or has traded speed for safe driving. Only tyres might become an issue as always with the RB4 - sweetspot between pace and tyre management to be found on the way to victory. Sunday we will know, who has found it!

Round info:
Track: South City City Long (SO4)
Laps: 22 (89km)
Car: RB4
Previous winners (all with FXR): CoRe A.Laipnieks (2015) 22 S.Jurvansuu (2014), CoRe V.Pitkänen (2013), spdoFade (2012)

Round 2 official results

The twisty narrow street circuit hosted a quite interesting race last sunday. Despite having only 8 cars on grid, race looked very promising from first laps already. Unfortunatelly polesitters connection gave up and destroyed his race, giving a freeride to victory for A.Valta, who took 2nd win in row,but the three-way battle for 2nd place was still alive for a while. Later Rony used opponent's mistakes, slipped to 2nd position and managed to pull away, while A.Rozītis had to work hard to defend his 3rd.

After one third of series we have some significant positioning in table, but of course everything can and most likely will change! After winning both opening rounds,A.Valta has a little gap over closest rivals - 9 points to Rony (2nd place) and 10 to A.Rozītis (3rd). In Rookie of the year standings A.Valta has even 14 points advantage over Snoopy.

After both leading teams losing a valuable member,Teams Championship starts to heat up - World Class Lions lost solid part of their lead and now is 8 points ahead of defending champions Race Green Autosports. But in Nation's Cup both leading countries scored equal amount in round 2,keeping status quo in standings - Finland is still 9 points ahead of Latvia.

Round 3 will feature an RB4 race at freshly built rallycross track at Westhill Karting National - the quite narrow and tricky track will host the 2nd and deciding round towards Cross Challenge award, everyone is welcome to take challenge and join series for remaining 4 rounds!
