So they save money in development of better waterproofing.

IMO this might be a smart move from apple, most headphones and earphones are gonna be wireless soon so why not encourage this form manufacturers so it comes even quicker and better (by better i mean loger battery life etc.)! This also opens up the opportunity for them to add a headphone jack to the iPhone 7 S and call it a groundbreaking feature.....
