I'm trying to host a server, but it never seems to work

I've opened up the right port according to teh right ip in my router

but my friend can either not find the server on teh server list, or he just times out while attempting to connect

we both have the same lfs version

Is the visibilty set too internet?

yes

If you can't see the game in the in-game server list, but you can see it in LFSWorld then it means that a port is still being blocked. Check your firewall and that you are correctly forwarding the port to the right local IP.
