Fuel Starvation.
When down at the local track with my car, if the fuel level is below a 1/4 tank, when exiting the hairpin I get fuel starvation.

Not nice when you've been flying around for 5/6laps ,and then you get that horrible feeling when you put the foot down and the car starts accelerating, then suddenly seems like someone stamped on my brakes for a second before pulling away.

On my car the fuel pick up is on the front right of the tank ,as you accelerate out of the uphill right hander ,all the fuel rushes to the back left of the tank causing the starvation.
Fuel Starvation can also occur during sustained high G corners or heavy braking.

In addition, damage can arise as the engine runs lean momenterally, which could lead to pre-detonation or a big bang!!
Or extra opportunities for passing as the guy in front splutters for a second.

This would be nice touch in LFS and a disadvantage to those running with very little fuel.
Although probably not applicable to the gtr's/open wheelers as they would have some sort of fuel cell /surge tanks/electronic ignition cut

There was a discussion about this before that even talked about the possible implementation like an approximation of the fuel-height at a specific point of the tank (wherever our virtual fuel pick up is). So rest assured that if Scawen has any interest in this he already has it on his list and already has some basic thoughts on the matter.
By the way I know someone who killed the engine of a 914/4 similarly. The engine is wet sump lubricated and when driving on the A1 circuit the oil went to one side and the crank-shaft died due to under-lubrication. Well, that was a good reason to replace the old 4 cylinder with a 6 cylinder-engine (and modify the case to restrict oil movement).
So g-forces on fluids is a critical problem.

i think it would be kinda cool to have realistic fuel tanks too like you said, because even driving to school and home i've noticed that... i honestly have no idea how much gas is in my tank, just a general idea.. and that means, less than a quarter of a tank and near the E so... time to go get some gas money lol

imo, after getting the more realistic RPM gauge, i think this should also be done.. we are going for real here correct?
Don't race car fuel tanks have a device similar to that on an Escort RS Turbo? Swirl pot IIRC. I don't know much about them but they'd make sense in something that accelerates pretty quickly.
Swirl pots are a requirement of fuel injection
I think

This is very much a real problem for road cars

I know for example the Mazda RX-7 is sensitive for this, my friend has to fill his up long before it's empty at track days.

Oil starvation is even worse to experience but not as common unless running on slicks or something very grippy.
Yeah if we could get those fluids moving about /heating up ,it could have nice knock on effects to damage/performance

Apologies if suggestion has been made before .Searched to no avail. Any links to previous discussion?

We always run the single seaters with a considerable amount of extra fuel to combat this problem, is fuel tank foam effective at combating this problem?

My mate and I compete in the All Circuit Sprint Championship and he had this problem in his 205Gti. He part filled the tank with this foam stuff and it cured the problem. I can run my Golf with less than a litre left in the tank and still don't get fuel surge. It just depends on the car and the location of thre pickup pipe in the tank.

or inverted
hopefully thats never true when your in a car though (unless your Ricky Bobby OH MY GOD IM FLYING!)
but it is very important in stunt planes
or WWII planes in a dogfight

dry sump cures that though.
