i just got the momo force feedback wheel.
is it a good steering wheel or is there any thing better then that one?
it is the one with with red battons on it.

There are a couple of MOMO Force Feedback wheels.
There's the most used MOMO Racing, but there's also the older MOMO Force wich isnt sold anymore I think.

But yea, all MOMO wheels by Logitech are great wheels. They feel steady and thorough. Get one.

Most people seem to prefer the DFP over the Momo wheels since they have full 900* rotation (you only need 720 for LFS, but still). But that doesn't mean the Momo isn't a good wheel. Most of the people who have them really like them. You just have to make sure it's setup properly in Windows and in LFS's settings as well. With the wrong settings no wheel works properly.

There's a thread either in the hardware subforum or on RSC comparing the red momo, the black momo, and the DFP.

iso i connected the wheel but i cant adjust.

or use < and > to adjust the force feedback during a race.

I feel it would be fair to warn you about a problem that MIGHT turn up, namely 'spikes' on throttle.
Many Momo owners ( and I mean MANY, including myself ) experience this after some use ( weeks ) and it starts out by loosing about 2 -5% of the topspeed when in full throttle. Very soon after that it will gradually progress and you'll end up wih a loss of as much as 40%.
When Pedal i fully pressed, don't press even harder. Take care of the pedals and you might not get this trouble.
A way to see if something is wrong, is to press the pedal with hands to bottom ... it must NOT be able to move sideways THE TINIEST BIT, if you can move it at all, problem is about to arrise, or allready have.

The new drivers seem to lock the last 5% or so. That way no spiking occurs anymore, because it spikes from 100% to 105% which is all equaled to 100%.
At least this is how it looks like to me. My pedals move sidewards a tiny bit, but they don't spike. Propably due to the drivers.

i had exactly that problem, low end speed due to the pedal. is there a way to fix this??
i also went to the setup options in the windows controller section, and on full throttle the red bar is about 10 percent short of max. the brake pedal is not affected, though. very annoying.

Can you recalibrate throttle pedal to accept 100% when your foot is only down 90% of the way? So set less than full deflection to compensate?

The pedals recalibrate themselves to whatever they find the highest value they detected. Windows isn't involved here.
There are a number of fixes for that. Several of them here in the forum.s The easiest is to apply the newest drivers. This solves the problem for many users.
Note: The CD doesn't contain the newest driver.

Could be the new drivers solve problem. I solved mine a month ago. First I tried several of sugested solutions but ended up beeing forced to turn the whole thing around and make it stand upward to be able to use Brakes as speeder and visa versa. But after a while SAME THING HAPPENED to brakepedal. Spikes. I ended up cutting pedals wires loose from a Logishit Wingman I had lying and likewise cut the wires on Momo pedal and then I connected the wires according to collours. I eneded up with a black wire hanging loose as Momo had 5 wires and Wingman only four. It WORKS.
The VERY last thing I did, was throw the pedals out and bought a seperate ACT Labs pedals with it's own USB connection to the PC. That way I use Momo wheel, which is exellent, and Act Labs Pedals.

my wheel came threw the door today at 11AM . switched computer on pluged them in xp found thh wheel , went to logitech web site downloaded 9.1 meg driver for momo wheel installed that , double clicked lfs.exe and it works great no pissing about

That's because your "wheel came through the door today at 11AM." Remember this thread 6 months from now when you are only getting 80% throttle, or you get 50% throttle when you hit the brakes like I did.

if thats the case then i will use the 20 months left on the warranty send them back and get new ones complaining that they r faulty dont bother me if i have to w8 a little

With my logitech momo pedals it turned out not to be the software or drivers, it was that the sensors came out of their pots, and were consatly changing calibration to try and match that and it just wacked out, so most of the time i wouldnt get full throttle, so i took them apart and plastic glued the little buggers in there and never had another problem with that...then i ran over the connector with my chair..and that was the end of that...Sidewinder wheels now :P

Sounds like you had the same problem I had, if the pots were glued you woudnt have had any more problems, but i guess since you got ur money back its no big deal haha

do you guys have any images of how the adjustments should look .

it is inposible to play the wheel is shaking crazy,and when i turn the wheel it takes to sharp,cant do it at all,i worked all night on that.if you can please send me images of what it should look like

Dont get your hopes up. I bought a DFP after getting fed up with my momo black pedals which were flaking out after about a year. The DFP pedals lasted a month before they started spiking brake power randomly.
Bizarrely, I plugged my old momo pedals into the dfp and they work fine now.

Yeah, neither wheel has particularly great pedals. I've had to set the minimum on my brake pedal down from 255 to 200 (in DXTweak2) to prevent the brake from randomly coming on all the time (that does wonders to your laptimes).

I as well as others have posted this in other threads, but I'll post it here again. This site has many "fixes" to help the momo and probably the DFP pedals. It is based on Momo, but I imagine since DFP has the same problems, the fixes would probably work as well. If you are tired of contacting Logitech and having them replace them with the same junk, then fix them yourself.

I fixed the throttle pedal shaft per this site and no longer have the calibration spike. Recently my pots also became loose giving me 50% throttle every time I braked. You can glue it, but a less permanant solution if you ever want to replace the pots would be to fold up a piece of paper as a shim in the tab on the pots so they are tight in the retainer. This isn't on the site, but there are pics that show you what the pot looks like.

Good site and easy fixes. It would be easy to redesign the pedals to fix the problems, but that's what happens when a company is more interested in profit margin than a quality product. They are selling, so why fix them.

No fix is going to be permanent without major surgery. I posted this topic for basic assistance on Logitech wheels. Don't expect their software patch to fix your pedals, the problem lies with the hardware.
