TFalke55: No problem. I got a light brown alert, but when i saw i'll be ok, i tried at least to bump you in the right direction again. Sadly, you probably burned the tyres anyway.
Round 6 official results

The final round turned out to be a very patience requiring one - whoeven started to heat up his pace, heated up also his tyres and eventually lost the pace. It was all about balance between pace and tyre temperature - race felt more like high-speed road race with just 4 different left turns per lap. Championship leader Marex proved his readyness for the final round by taking pole position and leading early race laps. But there was someone, who never let him - the already crowned Rookie of the Year Dzidoris kept the distance short and after few attempts he managed to take the lead, later also starting to pull away and set the fastest lap of the race with 2 laps to go - at that point noone had doubts about the winner. It was 2nd win of the season for Dzidoris, both in RB4 races. Marex had to settle for 2nd place finish, which was enough for his title chances, his main rival V.Laguckas never had the chance to catch leaders, while alse never really had pressure from behind - secure 3rd place finish, which is his 4th podium finish this season.

Season's final results and full recap will be posted either during weekend or early next week.
(bit busy with work and extra hours, while next week I'll have vacation)

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2016 final standings:

Championship spreadsheets

After somewhat dissapointing previous season,AWS has risen in terms of numbers and competition this year - 32 entries,27 participants and 22 points scorers, between them 6 drivers started in every single round and 2 missed just one round. Attendance was as always highest at start of the season - 19 drivers in both 1st 2 rounds and dropped to 10 in final round, averaging 14 per round, which is almost twice as last year. Despite racing heat and hard competition, racing stayed mostly clean with few incidents, ending with settlement after minor discussions.

AWS 2017 Drivers Champion: nsys|MareX
There hasn't been a repeated individual award winner and this year was no exception - we have a sixth different AWS Drivers Champion! Interestingly every odd year the champion was a latvian driver,so it was also this year - Marex snatched the title after thrilling season finale, improving his last year's 3rd place in final standings to champion title this year. He started the season with 4th places in both 1st 2 rounds qualifying and races, set fastest lap in qualifying in remaining 4 rounds and won round 5,setting also his only fastest lap of the race in same round. The total of his achievements: 1 win,6 top5 finishes,4 pole positions,1 fastest lap of the race.
After leading standings since 1st round,V.Laguckas lost the lead after 5th round and could not reduce the 1 point defficit in final round,so he had to settle for 2nd place in final standings, unluckily for him, despite good performance (2 wins,4 top5 finishes,1 pole position,2 fastest laps) he did not won a single individual award, but was valuable for his nation's success. Another lithuanian was 3rd in final standings - Dzidoris also had 2 wins,4 top5 finishes,1 pole position,2 fastest laps, but the DNF in round 3 made the difference from his compatriot. Remaining 2 positions in series were taken by 2 finnish MTDZX drivers - UM21 was 4th (1 win,3 top5 finishes,1 fastest lap) and Arska (best finish position - 2nd,3 top5 finishes).

AWS 2017 Rookie of the Year: DzidorisIII
After 3 successive years with champion being also series' rookie, this year was different - the top newcomer finished 3rd in standings, but is also shared most wins scored this season.

AWS 2017 FXR Master: nsys|MareX
The main title winner scored 1 point with FXR less than he scored with RB4,but still more than everyone else - win in 3rd award's round was the breaking point where Marex took the championship, his advantage over closest rival is same as in main standings.

AWS 2017 RB4 Master: DzidorisIII
2 wins and 3rd place finish, adding also 3 bonus points - how can someone possibly top that? The rookie proved that he was the best RB4 driver this season by winning the individual award with 6 points advantage.

AWS 2017 Cross Challenge winner: DzidorisIII
Also this 2 rounds long award was taken by season's top rookie - win, pole position and 2nd place finish secured him 3 points gap over main title winner.

AWS 2017 Oval Trophy winner: MTDZX-UM21
This season introduced 2 oval rounds,so we were able to make another small competition out of it. The first champion is finn UM21,who won 1st of 2 oval races and finished 5th in 2nd one,1 point advantage is all you need to take a title.

AWS 2017 S2 Challenge winner: Smart
With just 1 5th place finish it was enough for Smart to take the £12 worth LFS upgrade voucher, meaning the competition for this award was barely there,as Smart scored 7 out of 8 total points scored by S2 users. In 1st Race Green Events presented S2 Challenge in VERL 2016 there was at least some competition, but after this lack of interest, this competition won't be carried on in future.

AWS 2017 Teams Champions: Master Team Drivers Zero X-treme
The defending 4 years reigning champions were not only fallen from trone, they never even made between 3 best teams... So there are new champions - it's the finnish based team with extremely long name, with both drivers finishing in top5 of drivers standings. MTDZX scored 1 win and 6 top5 finishes, taking the title with 13 points gap over closest rivals.
The closest rivals were 2 single driver teams, both fighting for main title, taking same order (and achievements) as their drivers in standings - 2nd was Nismo Systematics,3rd - Last Lap Motorsports.

AWS 2017 Nations Cup winners: Lithuania
Lithuania becomes the 1st (and only) nation ever to beat Latvia in AWS Nations Cup - a total of 4 wins,9 top5 finishes,2 pole positions and 2 fastest laps were worth of 19 points gap over rivals in final standings. Lithuanians took 4 of 6 small individual awards.
After losing title for the first time,Latvia has to settle down for 2nd place in award standings and even that was barely pulled out in final round. 1 win,9 top5 finishes,4 pole positions and 1 fastest lap is into Latvia's account this year. After half of the season it looked like Finland will be able to challenge Lithuania for this award, but the performance dropped,so did Finland's position in standings - 3rd place is the result, achievements - 1 win,8 top5 finishes,1 fastest lap of the race. The standings are totally dominated by these 3 nations, proving AWS is still northern based series.

Race Green Events thanks all participants and wishes much success in all other leagues and events they are taking part. We hope you enjoyed racing in AWS and you all get much fun and valuable experience from the races.
The prize winners will receive PM during this week!

Future sights? The semi-weekly fun event RTFR and it's "larger" brother the monthly RTFR-XL will still continue as long as there is some interest, late summer and autumn should be a return for the V8 Racing League for it's 3rd season,7th annual X-mas derby should also keep the tradition running and if everything keeps in action,AWS will be back for the 7th running too. So basically - nothing new,Race Green Events will continue offer various challenges to anyone's racing skills!
Fun season, thanks for organisation and the round-up. Smile
