some track advice please
Hi All,

I have been playing for about 3 weeks - and have brickwalled for the time being at bl gp in the 1:35s.

I fancy a change - what track is a good progression from bl gp ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Maybe AS Club. One long straight, 2 slower corners, 2 fast chicanes.

But thinking of it, maybe its more a step back and Im only naming this track, because I love it.
I assume your racing the xf gti. Obviously you know blackwood well so why not try some of the other cars at blackwood to get a feel of them then try another track with that car
I find aston north is a good track with some nice corners and is not too long a track either.
If you stick to tracks in the right direction then they're all pretty well designed. Sometimes a reverse config looses some of a tracks character. I've seen Westhill reversed quite a lot in various leagues for instance, but I think the track flows much more naturally in the forward direction. They're all great tracks to be honest. Personally I preffer shorter tracks, as is well documented around here, of those for character and atmosphere Fern Bay Green is my favorite.

In terms of driving skill... I never could master Blackwood although I dont particularly have a bogey corner (more like a bogey last two sectors), but I dont think any other track is particularly difficult or easier or makes for logical progression from Blackwood. I'd avoid very long tracks such as South City Long, or Aston Historic, Kyoto GP etc. simply because they take a lot of learning when you are new because of their length, but other than that - race where your whim takes you
AS club is a pretty good track to learn. it's short which makes it fast to learn, it's popular so it's easy to find and it's fairly forgiving if you get it wrong.

T1 is a nice tight constant radius turn that'll teach good throttle control

the T2 chicane is a good one for teaching moderation, brake nice and early and keep the car settled, if you run wide here you'll bugger up the right hand part and plough into the wall.

the T3 chicane will show you when it's good to use balls and when it ain't

and the final complex has so many lines through it you can explore the car's capabilities. oh and mind the kerbs.
also as club t1 teaches you that there is more than 1 line round a bend and how you can switch them to enable you to pass people even when they're on the inside going into the bend

as someone else posted earlier try different cars on blgp, theres nothing better than really knowing the track when your getting used to a new car or worse than having no idea as to lines on a new track and how a new car behaves !

Fern Bay Gold with RB4 was my choice when I moved away from demo servers. You could go at it with FXO or perhaps LX4(with very low tire pressure it's amazingly easy to handle). The atmosphere is great, especially if you have upgraded to the high quality textures provided somewhere on the forum. The fast corners of the gold track may be a bit intimidating at first, but are a blast once you understand them(just need to get close to the inside:tilt.

Or if you're looking for a complete change of pace give the XFG a run at Westhill. Even a Blackwood setup may be sufficient with minor modification in case you can't find a descent setup.
AS Historic is very fun, and not to hard to learn. plus its a bit bigger than bl gp, so it introduces you more to the larger tracks. i couldnt suggest a car though, maybe fxr?
