brake bias

set the brakes to be 95% on the front. then hold the brakes, put it in gear and dump the clutch
i use an xbox 360 controller, is there any way of separating the shoulder button axis to do stuff like that?

wee frase x
u can assign every single key for the action u want to have, just take a good look at the controller options.
some keys u cant reassign but brake, gas, handbrake ect (the most important actions) can be assigned to any key u want.

a couple more questions:
since the car engine does not shut down, what is the use of the ignition button ?
what is the final drive option in LFS gear calculator?

something i find weird is that in replays i see that the throttle cuts when i upshift, although that doesnt happen when in race. the throttle cut on upshift is no, and i dont release the throttle pedal when i upshift

If you run out of fuel and make it back to the pits to fill up, you'll have to start the engine...

Quote from spyr :what is the final drive option in LFS gear calculator?

It's for the same thing as in LfS... For a technical explanation, please wait for the posts to follow (not by me, I know nothing about gearing)...

It's most likely nothing, the recording of a multiplayer-race just isn't as smooth as if you're running singleplayer...

if you run out of fuel, and can make it to the pits, you have to turn the engine on again.. also in like city driving its useful..
The final drive ratio is sometimes called the differential ratio or crown wheel and pinion ratio.

All cars have one somewhere, near where the driveshafts come out of the gearbox. The ratio affects all the gears (so the total ratio of any given gear is gear ratio * diff ratio). Thus a quick way of adjusting the gearing from a fast track to a slow track is to just change the diff ratio, and all the gears are changed.

Just to clarify something, the rear-end gears are the same thing as the final drive, right?
Umm... maybe. I've not heard them called 'rear end gears' before, but in some cars they are at the back of the gearbox (say on a Mk9 Hewland), so I guess they could be called that.

xrt vs ufr
how come the ufr is faster than the xrt since it has a weaker horsepower engine? the records are almost 9 seconds sorter with ufr in bw1.
#13 - Jakg
erm, UFR is a racing mini which isnt in the demo, and it has slicks so it should trounce the XRT

... and only weighs 600 kg

! now theres something i didnt know, both the UF1 and UFR weigh 600 Kg, no wonder that thing flys!

a few things required for a fast car in no particular order:
1.) good suspension, tires and brakes

2.) powerfull engine and drivetrain/tranny/gears

3.) overall weight and weight balance.

4.) chasis balance and stiffness
