Hi Guys,

I am looking for some techy help. I need a new PC for gaming and know very little about all the different specs so I am looking for some advice.

All I will want the PC to do is run LFS, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Project Cars etc, no other type of games and no other types of software (video editing etc) will be on it.

Can anyone basically build me a PC on PC Specialist or a similar site to slightly more than minimum requirements to run these games?

I'd like to cap budget at about €750-800 ex vat with Win 10 OS included but would be happy to spend a little bit more if it was justifiable/needed.

Would something like this that I built on PC Specialist be ok? i7 processor and basic Motherboard, RAM and Graphics Card? Obviously GC is probably most important so not sure if 1GB NVIDIA GT730 is good enough? Below PC is €736.96 ex vat.

The i7 is overkill if you're just using it for gaming, mostly makes sense for video editing/encoding. Use the i5 equivalent and use the money you saved on a better gpu. The GT 730 is 2 generations old, and will seriously slow you down.

Yep agree with troy save bit money on cpu and spend it on gpu

GT 730 sounds crappy beside a monster-gpu, like you wear a Ferrari car with Moskwitch tyres

I would buy cheaper CPU, 16GB ram memory and better video card, for example 60 or 70 series (i mean 960 or 970, or 1060/1070, that your GTX-730 is 30-series card -> low budjet card, not for gaming).

Then your SSD, that 250GB will not hold many games, I have that, and I cant install all sims I want because out of disk space. Take 500GB SSD. (or you can later add another 250GB and make additional installation folders in Steam...)

I would buy at least 550-600w power supply

and about costs - I would buy some items second hand, for example cpu and ram

Thanks for all the replies guys! I really have no clue so took your advice of downgrading Processor, upgrading ram and GPU and I also went for a cheaper SSD which seems the same specs? I think 250gb would be fine for me and if I need to I can always upgrade afterwards.
Do you think 16gb RAM would be essential for the beginning? I could save about €100 by just going for 8GB and I wouldn’t have a problem buying more ram at a later date if required.

Take into account that the 350W psu is not able to feed that GTX1060, you need at least 450-500w power supply

Get a PC from Overclockers.uk or similar, save yourself all the headache really.

Get at least a 650w supply.

As you know Windows isn't normally bundled with custom built PC.

If you are feeling a wee bit adventurous you could try picking up a (non-Locked Pre-installation) OEM key online. For example at eBay (link to filtered search results). A home/pro key sell for about £6 (where retail is about £90).

You'll have to download Windows and create a bootable USB or DVD media yourself, but the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft makes the process very simple.

I can't guarantee that won't run in to issues but I've been running a fully updated Windows 10 Pro since august, and I even bought a key for my dad. Both without any problems *knock on wood*.

There is a benefit of going with dual channel ram over single channel ram (2 sticks instead of 1)

That's a nice build, finally someone thinks of AMD Ryzen. It's the best choice for performance/price and upgrade path actually, since AMD with keep using the AM4 plateform until at least 2020. It will say 3 Zen generations, compared to the Intel's 7th series CPU which are the only options for the 2xx chipsets.
As truckloader said, the build would benefit from dual channel, especially with Ryzen. There is 4 DIMM slots, so it's doable without locking future updates.

True, maybe my understanding of current prices is not up-to date. If adding RAM later is easy for murray (instructions can be found in youtube for example), may be good idea to start with 8GB and save in costs. Adding another 8GB later when really needed is not big task.

Was bit surprized seeing GTX1050 suggested but okay, its the TI model, bit better performance (twin cam ) But what about power supply? Why 400W? Okay it can feed the GTX1050 but what about murray gets more hungry in next two years and wants to buy 1060 or 1070? Then also psu needs to be upgraded. I would take some 550w-600w psu, since the price difference is not big, isn't it?

I wouldn't recommend less than a GTX 1050Ti

PC2 requirements for GPU are "minimum = GTX680" (I think 680 is little bit faster than 1050 Ti), however here someone is running PC2 with 1050Ti

Bit faster and 2x more expensive I got PALIT GTX 1050Ti StormX and its great.

To give some perspective, I have currently the basic GTX 1050 with 2GB, not the Ti version.

My GeForce Experience application suggests for Assetto Corsa game following settings:
Anisotropic filtering x16
Anti aliasing x4
World Detail: High
Shadow resolution: High
Full screen rendering:yes
(i have one monitor, screen res 1920x1200)

With these settings the graphic lags heavily (though I had FPS limited to 46). I changed most settings one level lower:
Anisotropic filtering x8
Anti aliasing x2
World Detail: Medium
Shadow resolution: Medium
Full screen rendering:yes

Now the game is playable but at the limit, but GPU is still working at 96% while the cars are just standing in the grid. I think PC2 uses more graph resources than AC. Im not an expert on this area but just to give my experience on that subject (my CPU is i5-4460)

The user benchmark page claims Ti version is approx 13% faster than basic GTX1050, imo 13% is not much?

I wasn't saying GTX680 is good choice (its not; old generation, generates much heat and uses much current), I just meant that according to specs, 1050Ti is a bit under the minimum requirements for PC2.
