All-Wheel-Drive Winter Series 2020 - information

The winter is comming,in northern part of Europe it means snow and slippery road conditions as a result of snowing. What's the best way to have fun in this cold season? Pack out your all-wheel-drive car and go to a lonesome icy road or frozen lake! This is how the idea of this league has born - take LFS's both all-wheel-drive cars, use modified road sign "Slippery road" as logo, plan a callendar to have a nice variety of racing experience and here we go - it's time for:

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2020

For this year the schedule has been be slightly shortened - only 5 rounds will be run,3 of those with the faster car FXR,only 2 - with RB4. Series starts in 1st sunday of year 2020 and ends early in march.

On the schedule there will be only well known rounds - even if one of them has been introduced just last year. Season will start as usually in South City with NewYear City Challenge, this year a new configuration will be used - the Sprint 1. 2nd round will bring back the dizzy and dusty new addition from last year - Dusty 100,a race at a bullring type 600 meters short dirt oval, run with RB4 of course. Rallycross action will end already with 3rd round in the season - the league original idea was born at this "improper" combo of FXR at Blackwood Rallycross, this year run in reversed direction. 2nd round using RB4 will be also 2nd round running in Westhill - the series overall 4th round will be Westhill Street Cup,run on the recently tested Central Road Course 3. Like in first 4 seasons, the season finale will be carried out in Kyoto oval - Winter 200 will be the final round, hopefully an intrigue filled championship decider.

Series remains in same day and same time as last 6 years - sunday evenings at 19:00 UTC (20:00 CET / 21:00 EET) starting in 5th january with 3 weeks break between rounds 1-2 and then returning every 2nd sunday.

Series schedule:
05.01.2019. Round 1 - NewYear City Challenge (FXR @ South City Sprint 1*, 54 laps / 111km)
26.01.2019. Round 2 - Dusty 100 of Westhill (RB4 @ Westhill RGE Dirt oval*, 100 laps / 60km)
09.02.2019. Round 3 - Blackwood RXGP (FXR @ Blackwood Rallycross Reversed, 41 laps / 75km)

08.03.2019. Round 5 - Winter 200 (FXR @ Kyoto Oval, 67 laps / 201km)
* Layouts available as links/attachments

Each round will have a specific info and discussions thread in this forum section with all information of the round!
After round 4,no new sign-ups will be accepted. In last round only drivers received at least one point in standings will be allowed to participate!

Timetable:
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET
- 20 minutes of qualifying
19:30 UTC / 20:30 CET / 21:30 EET - race start

Special notes on qualifying:
* In rounds 2 and 5 hotlap qualifying will be used, this means there will be no specific lenght of qualifying session, every driver will run alone and have outlap and 2 hotlaps. Qualifying order will be determined by points standings - the highest ranked driver will start his qualifying run last, lowest - first. Race start will be approx. 10 minutes after qualifying.
* If there is no max allowed grid (40 cars),Drivers Championship top 10 drivers will be allowed to start from end of the grid if came late and missed qualification - noone else will be allowed to start without qualifying. In round 1 this top 10 will be taken from last season's final standings.
- To qualify for the race drivers have to set a laptime during qualifying session within 112% of best laptime of the qualifying session. This does not affect championship's top 10 drivers as they may start the race without qualifying or with laptime outside 112% of best laptime.

Championships:
AWS Drivers Champion - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through all 5 rounds, including attendance bonus points
AWS FXR Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 3 rounds run with FXO GTR (rounds 1; 3 and 5)
AWS RB4 Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run with RB4 GT (rounds 2 and 4)
AWS Cross Challenge Winner - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run in rallycross tracks (rounds 2 and 3)

AWS Nations Cup Winner - awarded to a nation with the most points scored through all 5 rounds (nation will score finishing points from it's 2 highest finished drivers and all round bonus points)

In all championships - in case of a tie, higher rated will be driver/team/nation with highest finishing position,if equal - it's amount,if equal - second highest position etc. If all finishing positions happen to be equal, higher rated will be selected using same system from qualifying results. If they also happen to be equal then as a tie-breaker will be used last round finishing position. In case a tied driver had a disqualification in one or more rounds,it counts as a primary rating lowering factor, when deciding tiebreak.

Rules:
We will not make a mile long rule book that noone will read completely anyway,so we will rely on common sence of competitors to behave and follow the basic Rules of Clean Racing. There will not be an admin in server who will specifically observe drivers' behaviour during the race. If any incidents reported/protested,we will take individual approach to each of them to decide best resolution or punishment if needed.

Basic guidelines as a reminder:
> Blue flag - you may not deny/block a passing manouvre of laping car and try a repass right after it. In qualification it means - stay off racing line and don't disturb drivers on hotlap.
> Shortcuts - 2 wheels on track at all times. Track is mostly marked by white lines, rumble strips or at least defined by paved surface, while also curbs count towards track. Overtaking outside track (for example in Kyoto oval on apron) counts as illegal and will be penalized in case of protest.
> Pit exit - allthough there will be no mandatory pitstop in this league, pit exit lines will have to be respected! Everyone caught crossing pit exit lines with more than 2 wheels will receive 10 seconds penalty added to finish result. In round 3,which is held in oval track also pit entry must be respected - driver have to enter pits on apron before final turn.
> Chatting - it's not completely outruled, but still drivers are expected to concentrate on racing. In case of too much chatting while ignoring messages asking to cease chatting,a penalty may be given. In case of any abusive/offensive language a penalty will be given! Non competing observers may not use chat at all!
> Lags - if there are any connection issues, driver will be asked to improve (close internet using programs). If driver will be considered as dangerous due to unstable connection,he will not be allowed to participate.
> Button clutch - is forbidden! Manual clutch is allowed only in combination with H-Shifter. Everyone caught using it will be penalized for unsportsmanlike behaviour with increased penalty for every next offence.
> Hacks/cheats - if used, you will not race with us. Ever. As simple as that.

Possible penalties:
> WARNING - any minor infraction that needs to be noted without penalty. Warned driver might receive bigger penalty for other infractions.
> 10s added to finish time - minor infractions, like illegal passing, pit exit line violation, chat misconduct.
> 30s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 2 and 5) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] without serious consequences or unsportsmanlike behaviour, illegal passing.
> 60s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 1 and 3 / 2 laps penalty in rounds 2 and 5) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] with consequences to other drivers (like affecting damage, multiple position loss) or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> Disqualification for 1 or more rounds - heavy infractions, multiple incidents, unsportsmanlike behaviour. After serving disqualification, driver will automatically carry a "warning" for the rest of season.
> Series exclusion (including ban for any other events run under Race Green Events control) - serious infractions like intentional/revenge wrecking, event sabotage and any other malicious act.

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2020 final standings:

Championship spreadsheets

This was already the 9th year of RGE's longest running series and there was plenty of action through the season and also plenty of intrigue in the season finale. One tradition was kept up again - the defending champion was the only previous champion who signed up for this season and due his low attendance he was not a factor for 2020 drivers champion title - therefor 9th season of AWS brought the 9th different champion. This season saw a slight increase in numbers - 34 signups (5 more than 2019),32 actual competitors (+10 increase) where 6 of them did not score a single point in their 4 rounds. 5 drivers attended all 5 rounds,4 missed just one. Attendance ranged between 18 in round 4 and 10 in final round, averaging 15.4 per round, which is a bit less than series all time highest of 16.7 in year 2015.

AWS 2020 Drivers Champion: S1DUS*Botsi
After 2 years of lithuanian reign in the series, title went to Finland for the 3rd time - Botsi scored a convincing win in 1st round of the season and even if it was the only race win for him,he still increased his advantage over competition through rounds 2 and 3,while allowed to decrease the gap just slighty in final 2 rounds. Botsi scored 1 win,5 top5 finishes (only one of those not on a podium),set fastest lap in 2 qualifying sessions and also in 2 race sessions.
Dzidoris had the highest average per round point count, but he left out round 2 and with that probably also the championship title - he won rounds 3 and 4 while he finished 2nd in rounds 1 and 5,earning pole position in both rounds he won, setting fastest lap in just one of those. His countryman Trespasser is the other 2-time winner this year - he won both oval rounds, finished 4th in round 3,but had just a point scoring DNF in the only other round he attended. The defending champion Sobis attended only in 3 middle rounds of the season, scoring 2 top5 finishes and finished 9th in overall standings.

AWS 2020 Rookie of the Year: S1DUS*Botsi
Botsi is the 5th driver, who took drivers championship in his rookie season - his closest rival was Trespasser, who finished 3rd in standings,3rd best rookie was Ngottini (8th in overall standings).

AWS 2020 FXR Master: RGˆDzidoris
The 2-time Cross Challenge winner and previous RB4 Master Dzidoris switched to FXR mastership this season - 1 win and 2 2nd place finishes is the performance required this season to take the title with 3 points gap over Botsi, who also had a win and 2 top5 finishes. Defending champion Sobis attended just 1 round, finished 3rd in it and ended 9th in this table.

AWS 2020 RB4 Master: S1DUS*Botsi
This little award was a factor in just 2 rounds this season - Botsi finished 2nd and 3rd in both RB4 rounds to clinch the award by tiebreaker over Unite (2nd and 4th place finishes),both RB4 rounds winners Trespasser and Dzidoris had no or just 1 point score in their 2nd round for the award. The defending champion Michal attended one of the 2 races, but did not finish it and was scored 22nd in final standings.

AWS 2020 Cross Challenge winner: Trespasser
Trespasser won the 1st of 2 rounds for this award and finished 4th in 2nd round, which was just enough to secure it by 1 point over Botsi. The defending champion Sobis finished 3rd in this table.

AWS 2020 Oval Trophy winner: Trespasser
Winning both rounds for the award automatically clinches it in any scenario - Trespasser did not score any extra points, but still had 9 points lead over Botsi. Sobis was the defending champion also for this award - he attended just one round, finished 4th in it and was scored 8th in final standings.

AWS 2020 Teams Champions: Race Green Autosports
The 4-time back to back champions RGA is back at the top of the table after 3 years of absense - 3 of the team's 4 drivers finished in all even positions of series final standings' top6,scored 2 wins,a total of 6 top5 finishes (all of them on podium) and at the end of season had an advantage of 46 points over single driver team of the season champion - Team S1dus. World Class Lions repeated their 2018 performance and finished 3rd. Defending champions LLM were represented solely by Sobis and finished 5th in final standings.

AWS 2020 Nations Cup winners: Lithuania
For the 4th successive time this award travels to Lithuania, but this was the most hardly earned title for the country. Finland led the table through whole season, but Lithuania was slowly reducing the gap and only in final round they took the lead and clinched the award by 5 points over Finland. Latvia completed the podium, proving once again that AWS is still northern european dominated series, where "outsider" countries just occasionally score one podium position in final results.

Race Green Events thanks all participants and wishes much success in all other leagues and events they are taking part. We hope you enjoyed racing in AWS and you all get much fun and valuable experience from the races.
Feel free to use this thread and share your experience through out the series!

Now a little about our future plans. Since the aquirement of this forum section,it is much easier to follow our actions, but here's a little look towards them anyway. AWS is set to return for it's decade season either very late this year or in first sunday of the new year of 2021 - hopefully with the new LFS version, where finally the wish for NewYear City Challenge being a night race can be accomplished. One or 2 other rounds migh feature rather late evening lighting conditions, while renaming Dusty 100 to Muddy 100 might be a way too early wish...
Our other plans include the brand new challenge named 300km of Westhill - the 300km race on 12.24km track layed out on support roads of Westhill's racetrack. The track is currently available in public testing - info about it here.
Last year in this recap the new series STARL was introduced, this year there will be a confirmation of 2nd season instead. Few new tracks will be included in schedule, which will feature 2 short track ovals - one of them well known already. More details in mid-april.
Further plans include 6th season of VERL,10th running of the famous This is Crashmaaas !!! and a wish to return the Summer 1000 and host another longer distance race - these 2 however are just wishes, situation will show how much of that will come to life in this virtual world.
