[SOLVED] Logitech g920 stopped working with LFS
It used to work but now no axis moves under the Available Axis in Settings -> Controls whatever I do. Which is mostly: click on the Steer, then move the wheel and all the pedals one after the other. Repeat after clicking on Throttle and Brake. No slider moves.

The wheel is recognized as Logitech G HUB G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB Steering wheel. (It is written below the "1 controller detected text" on the same screen.) The G-HUB app and the drivers are up to date, and they work with other games. (Checked for updates all 4 items under Device Manager that start with Logitech G-HUB. I also have Logitech keyboard and mouse.)

The following happened since the last time it worked (and worked great) with LFS:
1.) I switched back to keyboard / mouse control. AFAIK it went wrong then, not sure, though.
2.) I stopped playing for a while. Meanwhile updates came and got installed for the Logitech G-HUB.
3.) Removed my XBOX One Wireless receiver from the neighboring USB slot.

Temporarily removed cfg.txt, did not help. Did not find any related settings inside. Not sure where they are stored.

deb.log contains one ore more occurences of these:
Controller 1 (Logitech G HUB G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB) :
Added 5 axes

Anybody any idea? I love LFS a lot. It is my all time favorite. Bought the wheel primarily because of it. Would hate to be unable to play it anymore.

Hi!

I haven't used a similar wheel/G-HUB so I don't have any first hand experience on this...

It it possible to plug in your wheel and play LFS without G-HUB? As a troubleshooting step to see if G-HUB is causing the issue?

Is it possible to attach a screenshot of your Options>Control once the wheel is plugged in (to see if anything is amiss)? Please select the Axes/FF tab to see the assigned axes (I wonder if the axes aren't assigned to steering and pedals...).

First, double check if axes have been assigned?

Hi Silverracer, thank you for your reply.

I added a screenshot and tried your suggestion of exiting G-HUB but nothing changed.

Normally this app needs to be running in the background the wheel to operate properly. It used to be the same for LFS a few months ago.

Thanks for the screenshot; I cannot notice anything irregular. They all look okay.

When you say it works great with other games - are they also on PC running via G HUB? Or Xbox?

I'm not sure if its relevant; but maybe this post would help/has some relevance? Maybe the wheel is still in Xbox mode?

If you join the track (car in pit/track) and press "shift + c" to reinitialize controllers, does it make any difference?

Try a different USB port to plug in the wheel and check if that makes any difference.

Have you made any hardware changed other than what's been listed on the first post (changed any power adapters cable to the PC)?

Rolling back on the G HUB updates might be possible, to troubleshoot. But then again I'm sure a few of LFS racers use the same wheel and would have encountered the same issue if the G HUB update has messed up something...

Its better to check with Logitech support/forums (if any) before doing anything drastic...

I found a solution and put it here for anybody struggling with this later:

Steps to follow in post #2, WheelDriverCleaner.exe in post #3.

I was somewhat worried about downloading an exe from an unknown url. This is always a bad-bad-bad idea. I cannot and do not take any responsibility if it causes any harm to your computer, to you or to anybody else. I checked it with Avast and found it clean. After two days I don't see any signs of virus-like activities. This doesn't mean it will not cause problems later. I keep my fingers crossed.

Also check Silverracer's great tips above.

Thank you Silverracer! I did my research before asking here, still you were able to surprise me Smile That XBOX vs. PC mode for example is sthg I never heard of before, such as SHIFT-C. Good to know about them.
You're welcome and glad to hear that you sorted it out. Cheers for posting your solution too!

I actually had the same problem with my G29 steering wheel. All I did in the end was install Logitech Gaming Software instead of the G-Hub. Worked like a charm.
