Round 6

Sunday,9th August
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET* / 20:30 EET*

* Summer time

After the 4 weeks break it's time to finish the season and decide the fate of both drivers and teams championships,and we'll do it in a proper short track - the 1.48 kilometers short custom configuration at Rockingham. This course uses Rockingham oval's 2nd and 3rd turn,then turns sharply left over a tight hairpin into infield,followed by an s-turn. A curved braking zone follows after short back straight,which is followed by tricky double apex left turn,which leads the course back to oval section. A round number of 100 laps are set for this race,which is just 2km short of series' nominal race distance of 150km.

Situation before final round could not me more intriguing - series leader Rony and closest follower T.Soini are seperated by a single point,which means that in many cases the driver finishing ahead of rival is a champion except if points are tied - Rony has advantage in all tiebreaker scenarios. Besides focusing on 2 leaders,it's worth to mention that there is a 3rd realistic candidate for the title - the defending champion Unite is 9 points off lead,a gap that might be difficult to reduce in single race,but deffinitelly not impossible. There are 2 other drivers still within striking distance to the champion title (Trespasser and J.A.Katila),but both of them are 16 points behind standings lead with 17 available. Also teams championship has reached it's culmination - 2 leading teams (represented also by 2 drivers standings leaders) are currently tied on points,where defending champions Race Green Autosports is ahead on tie-breaker (1 win against none) over World Class Lions.

Just like last year the final round was low attended and halved in terms of distance - from Rockingham 100 it turned into Rockingham 50,a 50 lap race around the sprinty custom track. Still 3 main title candidates were present,allthough one of them lost the chances already due points reducement and by not scoring the point for pole position. Polesitter Redbot lead first 10 laps before losing pace a bit,while the other front row starter Unite started to find pace and climbed up from 3rd position to lead,which he kept till the finish line,setting new lap record on the way to victory lane. Redbot kept off early attacks from his teammate and later pulled away to secure 2nd place in finish,Rony run 3rd for most of the race - due championship situation it was more important to keep an eye on the title rival,who did not had the pace to catch him.

Full season recap and final official standings will be posted next week!
