VERL 2020 - Round 5
V8 Racing League 2020
Round 5

Sunday,8th November
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

In the 6 years of running, this will be the V8 Racing League's first ever visit to sunny Caribbean island of Jamaica - the VERL's 450 horsepower machines will be unleashed in the Gold configuration of Fern Bay's racetrack this sunday. Despite league's first visit, track should be well known to it's drivers. The 8-shaped 3.5 kilometer course features wide variation of turns, combined with unforgiving high curbs and does not offer many overtaking opportunities.

Since the champion is already known before final round, the main intrigue is gone for the season finale, but there are still a lot of positions to be settled, including 2 titles - Rookie of the Year and Teams champions. For those not included in these 2 title battles, this will be the final chance to improve their position in final standings of 2020.

Well, seems Jamaica is very far away also in our virtual racing world,as just 3 teams were able to ship a total of 4 cars over the seas to race on the Carribean island. Due series regulations this round turned into "Caribbean 100" as the race distance was halved together with available championship points due low attendance,so already before the start the Teams champions were official as their closest rivals could not catch up anymore.

The race itself was quite chaotic, low preperation caused most of the drivers make mistakes - in the result qualifying order was turned upside down during the race,as polesitter finished last and last car on grid won the race. J.A.Katila made the least mistakes and despite having the slowest pace, took his car to victory lane and wrote his name into VERL history. Redbot lead almost half of the laps, but one big mistake demoted him to 2nd position,Rony led the least laps, but finished 3rd.

Full season recap and official final standings will be posted next week!
