Connecting PC to laptop monitor
Basically my monitor has gone bananas and keeps turning on an off and is un-usable, i connected my pc to my laptop to use the laptop monitor but it didn't detect it automatically, i presume it can be done some how, so any1 who knows how, shower me with your knowledge cheers
You just connected a VGA output to a VGA output. You just plug your computer into your laptop. Basically, there is no way to do this.
Oh i thought it could be done nevermind
Well, you COULD, It would just mean getting/finding/making an adapter to convert the laptop LCD connector to a VGA connector, and dismantling the laptop. Well above what a normal person would want to do.
I once saw on a webby ages ago, some guy made some kind of switch, so he could plug his PC into his lappy and use the keyboard and such. Though I guess it was just networked and he used some over the network control software. :s
I would assume he would have set a VNC server up on the PC, connected using a VNC client and just fullscreened it.
I guess you could use a remote desktop thinggy.
VNC = Virtual Network Computing = Better than Window's remote Destkop
The video connector on the laptop is for output only. I could imagine that connecting it to the output of your desktop's video card could potentially do some damage (i.e. short circuit; one pin on one side has a 1 on it, while the corresponding pin on the other side of the wire has a 0 on it, you get a short. There may be some protection against this, though)
