Well it can be either, to be honest. My Momo pedals flaked out a few months after I bought it, and the software fix worked. They didnt start breaking again until about 9 months later. I suspect the root is hardware based, and the software fix can cover it up to an extent, but once it reaches a certain level, you're screwed.

and how about other games like i am trying to play gran prix , and cant adjust the pedals the wheel.

If you mean will it work on a PS2, I have heard it does work, but is very difficult to get it to work. Not sure though, maybe other's will confirm or deny.

or can i connect the momo force to the x box?

There are some passthrough boxes out there that will let you connect an Xbox device to a PC, but I don't know of any that work the other way around. I would NOT recommend buying an Xbox device and trying to get it to work on the PC since the Xbox does not support force feedback.
