This seems very low but I do often do races when I start from 3 laps down. Generally I'll finish the race even if I'm last with a badly damaged car. This will reduce the percentage of podiums obviously.
So, the person who quits the most will have the best percentage
Thats a good point gentlefoot. I must admit most races where i am out of the top3 will be because i crashed or got crashed...then i usually spectate.
It would be interesting if they did a statistic showing the most places gained in races. I often start on the back row just for kicks cause i hate hotlapping from the front, so i think my almost 80% is pretty damn good (bighead)
Where as...to name one person i know with a big ratio...phlos, always finishes poorly when he has to actually overtake
LFS Stats produces that information (most places gained) and it's one of the really good performance indicators. It would be great if LFSW recorded that info. Or even just recorded how many races you started in addition to how many are finished. I think there may be technical reasons why LFSW doesn't currently collect this data though.
LFSW used to display a win-ratio, as I'm sure many here will remember. It was removed for the switch to S2 iirc because it did more harm than good to the general attitudes online.
Stats like those on LFSworld are all well and good, there's certainly a host of others that could be added also, but they can have a negative impact if individuals treat the actual statistics as a challenge too.
Yup, I remember a few users that did that a lot in S1. Some people would wait until a race was over and join just before a new race started, and with reverse grid start order, they would easily pull it off (especially on FE Green where everyone crashes and 1st place is just home free). I noticed one person doing it, asked them why (since it was obvious)... and he said something of this sort: "Because I don't want to crash and don't want to hurt my win ratio" illepall
Practically all my wins are from S1 days. I'd say I did about 70% S1 driving, and hardly any S2 driving at all. I was an MRT nutter, and was pretty dominant when I started to learn that. Nothing is the same anymore though I miss the old S1 MRT, heh.
He can't defend himself, so i feel obliged to... Phlos can win on any combination consistantly, he doesn't just race one combination and become super-skilled there like a lot of people. I personally think that he is a very talented driver (more so than yourself, for example) and although he can be very "cunning", he rarely causes crashes. I have raced with him many times since S1 and had lots of close battles. I think darkone, csimpok and plenty of other respected drivers could back me up on this.
Lots of people flame Phlos, but on the virtual track, there aren't too many better than him.
