After all these racing filled years we still find some new options - RGE has hosted plenty of races in South City's Sprint 1 configuration, but this was the first ever race in the reversed direction, creating rather new turn combinations racers haven't used to yet. The FXR is already alone a specific handling car and coupled with this course,it was actually a new challenge. Unfortunatelly the interest for this challenge was rather low compared with the past 20 months, setting the lowest attendance record since 242nd RTFR (in november 2020 featuring just 16 drivers). But still the driver count in all values (qualifyers, starters and finishers) was downwards rounded all time average values of RTFR.
Having won half of the last 10 races,Gábor joined once again as one of the favourites for victory lane - he scored his 10th pole position, led every single of 42 race laps (exceeding 300 of those in total - now 3rd most),set the fastest lap of the race, which is also his 10th and tied Agent and Merenui for 2nd most wins in RTFR by scoring his 15th win. Besides all these achievements it was also his 28th top5 finish. P.Koivunen repeated his best qualifying position 6th,but his race was much better - he upgraded the qualifying effort to 2nd place finish, which is 3 positions better than his only other top5 finish from 14 starts. Despite qualifying 3rd,Unite had the chance to start from front row as the monkey went for more bananas and left his spot open, but the race led to his return to 3rd position, which is his 61st top5 finish. J.A.Katila finished 4th earning his 26th top5 finish, but first one since 264th RTFR. Top5 was closed by a rookie in RTFR top5 - Ric98's previous best finish was 7th.
After 2 AWD races in row in RTFR,we'll end this small AWS-like summer series - next race in 2 weeks will be the 1st of 2022 season 2 and will feature one of the road legal cars, which is not made by LFS devs. More details as always in the weekend before the race, but you might get a hint on next tuesday's sb.tv broadcast. Regarding the broadcast - it will show the next RTFR XL,which will feature the repeat of the celebratory 100th RTFR combo - XFG at Westhill National (a brand new configuration back then). Let's see if this event can also gather up 40 drivers in qualifying as it did back then - it will be more than twice as long race this time, full details will be posted tomorrow, right after the server is set up.
