hi. just thought it id let you know id did fairly well in my gcse`s, 5 B`s, and 4 C`s (and also an E and U, but that was drama and re, which i didnt attempt)
Did mine last year- here's some advice Captain: If you take AS English, learn some big words like "Dioneysian wheel of fate", talk out of your arse for eight pages and you'll be sorted. If you take Geography, work said arse off or you're gonna fail.
" but i thought writing your own forum would give you a much higher grade"
ICT at GCSE/A level isn't marked on creativity or technical ability, sadly. Identifying the purpose of websites and highlighting the ways online shopping has changed people's lives and maybe making the odd Excel sheet about it is as sophisticated as it gets. The examiners aren't that ICT-literate.
I made an OS shell and chat app for GCSE and printed off a few screenies and reams of (well commented) source code in the hope the examiner would get bored/confused and just give me a good mark because it looked clever. It worked though.
it was sarcasm as he thinks he has writen his own forum by opening an invisionfree account
i am hoping to do an ICT GSCE, although seeing as our school (who was given £250k to become a specialist maths and it school) doesnt do it that may be hard, we don't have ordinary IT lessons, to do them under the name of DiDa after school, in which we never get to do anything good (ie taxing), although last year we had to do databases, so i open Acess, but no, aparently i have to use their old slow out of date, hard to use program designed to be wateredown, instead of a program i may just use again one day!
schools are stupid. the teachers assume cos they were a suit and (they think) they are in charge, that they know everything.
And i put my name down to do an ict nightclass, except i never heard aything back untill my m8s where complaining about it being crap. i was obviously missed on their database (mibi they use same system as jakg`s school). and as for special status, apparently where a performing arts school. which means a few of our english lessons get nicked to do shitty drama. when i could of done with a few extra english lessons tbh, might of got B then.
My school's a technology college I think and it's pretty good with giving us proper stuff to do. (It is in the top 4 schools in the country though :shy
As far as I'm concerned it's actually fact that exams are getting easier. I did A -Level Chemistry about 6 years ago and the school was poor so they still had old O - Level books hanging around. I remember looking through it and it was FAR more advanced than what we were doing. I also remember my Chemistry teacher saying at the time "and people say exams arent getting easier".
Dont mean to put a downer on peoples efforts but people can debate it all they want, all they have to do is go look at old papers/books.
