VERL 2023 - Round 5
V8 Racing League 2023
Round 5

Sunday,12th November
18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET

Westhill has always been a great place for racing fast cars, after the big update it added more challenge to that, still remaining being well suited track for the fastest racing classes of LFS. That's why also V8 Racing League has hosted a race in this environment every single season of it's existance, the inaugural season of the league - even 2! The International configuration in it's standard direction was the 1st track where the new FoRGE VERL 2022 car was run in a competition for the 1st time, now a bit more than a year later it's time for the return - let's see how the slightly updated car will deal with the track.

The season finale will decide the fate of 3 VERL titles as just a single one has been decided already, however the Nations cup will be awarded to Finland 10 minutes before qualifying if no other bulgarian driver signs up and tries the nearly impossible upset. RD2 has been leading drivers standings whole season long,8 points gap gives him good advantage, but he must make sure to remain failsafe. RGA has even smaller advantage in teams standings - without good effort their chances to defend the title might vanish.

The last 200 kilometers of the 2023 VERL season have also been completed and that in the challenging high speed course of Westhill International. 11 drivers joined for this challenge, setting 2nd highest attendance of the season, however one of them came unprepared and was not able to break inside the set 112% qualifying barrier,so he was forced to watch the remaining 10 drivers racing for win from tribunes. Having 2 championships on the line (nations cup was decided with signups closure) the race still had a potential of intrigue, however it was cleared out very early as drivers championship chaser dropped down to last position due own mistake, effectivelly deciding fate of both drivers and teams championships.

Completelly outside any intrigues was the malaysian Zesty, who dominated whole evening by setting new lap record in qualifying, leading all 35 laps and during the race improving the lap record even further. That was his 2nd race win of the season, tying win count with the 2nd place finisher RD2,who finished in same position he started from, however he had to earn it in direct battle with both 2nd row starters. On the longer run Texas was just able to keep up with RD2,but not really challenge for position,so the pole had to settle for 3rd place finish - this made the podium of final round consist of all 3 drivers, who have a race win this season, weirdly none of them had a podium finish before the start of the season.

Full season recap and official final standings will be posted within next couple weeks!
