New LFS version 0.7E
Hello Racers,

We have a lot of updates for you today, in Live for Speed 0.7E and the LFS Editor!

The main focus was the mods system, allowing creators more flexibility and improving the modeller and vehicle editor. There are various improvements to the HUD, including an engine damage display. Dashboards were an important part of the development, now allowing much more flexibility and mod designers have been making great use of the new features including customised backgrounds and various options for the dials, text and warning lights.

As most LFS racers know, a separate new version is still in development and it features night driving on updated tracks, so the lights needed an update and that has now been done. Popup headlights are now supported, along with options for various types of moving subobject that mod creators have been using to get creative.

Motorbikes came along a lot, after making it possible for AI to enter the game with objects and bikes. The bikes had so many crashes and pileups that the AI soon became a focus of its own. Now there are a lot of improvements in their overtaking code. They think ahead more clearly and make better decisions about whether it is a good time to pass.

Some small graphical updates were done other than the improved mod support. Dust kicked up from grass is now a more realistic dirt colour and takes account of the lighting at its location.

On multiplayer servers, the maximum number of connections is increased to 79, for an additional charge. For now, the number of vehicles on track is still limited to 40.

See the full list of changes and how to install the update on the Live for Speed version 0.7E page.

Thank you scawen! good updates
Thanks for keeping your word!
Now it's a straight path to the big update!
I started the game with the 0.6E demo. Drag racing was in fashion then. Time is very fast.
I don't understand how the average fuel consumption is adjusted. Confused
Is 0.7E compatible with 0.7D?
Quote from durmazz :Is 0.7E compatible with 0.7D?

No, this patch is incompatible with previous versions.
After stopping our servers to update them to the new version, one of the servers would not start.
Quote :Node error. The host was not started.

Thank you very much for this awesome update Smile

We have a small issue, 5 out of 6 servers we were able to update and start. One server fails to start with "node error" message. What can we do?

edit: we reported issue twice (mcmustang, already did it above my post)
Which host had the error and which country is it in?
Quote from Scawen :Which host had the error and which country is it in?

[AA] Multiclass Racing server, Netherlands
Did a small test, the server would start on 7D version but not on 7E.
''On multiplayer servers, the maximum number of connections is increased to 79''. Damn, that's pretty epic tho. Now only if we could get that amount of players on track, [TC] Cruise would be next level.
oh yeah Thumbs up LFS

Will there be an option to upgrade existing server?

At the moment max cars on track is still 40. Support for more will come in the following updates later durring next year I guess. Also, I do expect a way to extend the server subscription without canceling it first and then paying again for 79 connections.
Can the average fuel consumption be turned on in the game settings or will the mod maker give an update to appear in the vehicle dashboard?

Hi I debugged your host - it looks like the rst min value was set to 300 which is out of bounds. I've set it to 30 for the moment. apparently the max is 240, so I need to adjust the validation on that value to prevent this error

EDIT - fix deployed and I've set the value to 240 for the host.
Avg fuel consumption is calculated natively by lfs and it is only displayed after doing at least one lap on the track.

For each particulair car or mod, this is mostly dependent on engine volume, but it also very much depends on air restriction, and a way you drive the car, which gearbox you use and so on. Other than that, mod creators can't adjust it as a parameter.

Thank you very much Victor, yeah, 240s will do just fine (we will reconfigure our inSim), no other actions needed.

edit. I suppose this limitation is only in your control panel as you used an 8bit integer for this field. Can we change it through inSim to more than 240s after a server has started?
Congrats on this update Scawen. I have seen how hard you worked on them, along the LFS community. Wishing you (Eric and Victor as well) happy holidays. Get some good rest, as you deserve that soooo much.
Quote from rane_nbg :Can we change it through inSim to more than 240s after a server has started?

The 300 limit couldn't really have worked, even in 0.7D - it was a bug that it was allowed ever since some time in the past when these values were transferred around as bytes. I fixed the bug but never thought to alert Victor, so that's what caused this glitch. So the true limit is 240 seconds, at startup or by text command.

I thought the trip computer feature came. I start a lap race, the time on the top right does not start to work, I keep going round and round like training. I guess I need to reinstall the game from the beginning, I don't understand.

Victor does plan to add an upgrade option soon.

You don't need to reinstall the game for anything. You'll just see the same you do now.

I see you mean the average fuel consumption. It's Options - Display - Extra Status Info (image of fuel and battery).

Then drive laps and you should see it at the bottom if you have F9 open.

Ok, I understand, thank you for the explanation Scawen.

Once again, congrats to the LFS dev team. I wish you a good rest in the upcoming holidays. Thank you everyone who actively participated in the testing of all test patches.
After upgrading to Version 7E, I entered the server and while playing with the xRG car, it got a synchronization error and kicked me out of the game.
