ZFRL All Rounder Championship 2024
Announcement of the Zafiralis All Rounder Championship

We are proud to present to you our first ever racing series: the Zafiralis All Rounder Championsip presented by Sim Broadcasts. As the name and logo suggests, the series will feature a wide range of cars and tracks with varying grip levels. The main idea of the series is to have three consecutive rounds in the same track environment with the three different types of tyres before switching to a new track environment. The races will be held monthly starting from monday 8th of January 2024, and the following races will be held on the first monday of the month (see the below for all dates). All races will be livestreamed by Sim Broadcasts on their Twitch and Youtube channels.

What: Zafiralis All Rounder Championship presented by Sim Broadcasts
When: Monthly races starting on monday 8th of January 2024
Where: On our server ZFRL•Events

More info on the series format:
One round consists of one race: the races will be around 45 minutes long with a 30 minute qualifying, no mandatory pitstops. The 30 minute qualifying sessions will start at 20:15 EET and race starts will be at 21:00 EET. In the following round we will return to the same track environment with a different kind of car and layout. After three rounds in the same environment we switch to the next one. First change of environment will occur between at rounds 3 and 4. For clarification, see the event date calendar below.

We will begin the series with the first three races in Blackwood with different cars and track layouts. The first race in a given track environment will be with road tyres, second race with slicks and the third one with dirt tyres. Races with dirt tyres will always feature a layout with at least partially unpaved surface. For example, first set of races could be XFG@BL1, then FO8@BL2r and finally RB4@BL3 (This is just an example, exact car/track combinations will be revealed at least a week before each round). After that we switch to another track environment. The driver with most points across three races in a single track environment will get to choose the next environment to be used. Car/track combos for the races will be published at least a week before the event date.

If you have any questions regarding the series format or anything related to it, feel free to ask questions either in this thread or in our Discord channel.

Points system:

1. - 15 pts
2. - 11 pts
3. - 8 pts
4. - 7 pts
5. - 6 pts
6. - 5 pts
7. - 4 pts
8. - 3 pts
9. - 2 pts

Additionally, if there are more than 15 qualifiers, one more point scoring position is added and everyone gets +1 point per 1 qualifier over 15.

In order to score points, one has to complete at least 50% of total race distance.

In case of a tie, the number of highest place finishes will be compared and if equal, the number of second highest places etc. If those are all equal, then whoever achieved their highest finishing position first will be considered higher in the points.

The car in question should be familiar to all of those who took part in our test event a few months ago: the Cinque Centurion. A small Italian classic car fitted with a powerful motorbike engine in the back. The track we will be using is a custom layout touring around the Blackwood industrial area featuring both slow and fast sections and even some slight elevation changes. Penalties:
「DD」 tBug receives a warning for avoidable incident in the first braking zone on lap 1 that caused a multiple car collision. Further misconducts will lead to a penalty.

The results posted above are confirmed as official

The first ever round of Zafiralis All Rounder Championship was fought on the streets of Blackwood industrial area using a spiced up italian classic: the Cinque Centurion. The tricky choice of car seemed to scare off many participants, but we still had an action filled race on our hands.

Pole position was claimed by Thehemuli, followed closely by Arska and Motimoukari. The polesitter from our test event featuring the same car, Texas only managed to claim fourth place on the grid, while tBug completed the top 5 of qualifying.

A total of 12 cars took the start, and already in the first braking zone chaos erupted. tBug could not slow down enough and made contact with Arska, who right after that collided with tBug again causing a bit of a traffic jam in the corner exit. Both of them lost many positions, and Arska had some damage and further incidents in the opening lap forcing the finn to make an unscheduled pitstop dropping him to last position. Polesitter Thehemuli avoided all the mayhem and cruised off to an early lead, while Mandula was the biggest winner among the chaos as he climbed to third place after starting from 7th on the grid. Motimoukari took hold of the second place for a moment, before multiple mistakes saw him drop down the order. The biggest fight of the race was between M. Kapal and Lorenzo, who changed positions many times during the second half of the race, sometimes even multiple times per lap!

In the end Thehemuli held his early lead despite almost rolling the car on lap 6. Mandula finished second after a consistent performance, while Texas took advantage of the turn 1 mayhem and completed the podium. Motimoukari managed to climb back to fourth place, but could not fight for the podium due to losing too much time early in the race. M. Kapal completes the top 5 by just 0.02 seconds over Lorenzo, passing him only a few meters before the finish line.

Next round will feature a car with slick tyres and a standard Blackwood track on the first monday of February. Full information for round 2 will be posted within next week on the forum, but the car/track combo can be found on our discord server already.

All Rounder Championship Round 2 recap
All Rounder Championship Round 2 recap

The results posted above are confirmed as official

The second round of Zafiralis All Rounder Chamionship featured the Formula XR to provide some slick tyre racing on Blackwood GP Reverse. Popular car on a simple track meant some good attendance which brought plenty of action throughout the field.

The mighty quick Gábor secured the pole position ahead of his closest competitor Rex. Third fastest time of qualifying was set by Zesty who beat the Finnish legend uNite, this time racing under the alias of keke rosburger, by just a hundredth of a second. Following him was Mandula with the same difference, so you can tell it was a close fight for top 5!

On the grid there were 26 brave competitors taking up the challenge. The early stages were clean allowing Gábor to pull out a comfortable lead right from the start, despite Rex giving a good effort to keep up, as well as Zesty following with his consistent pace behind the leading two. The notable driver to lose places in the start was keke rosburger, who unluckily got trapped between cars with nowhere to go. This among some other close racing allowed Mantas to climb up few places to race against Mandula.

The polesitter Gábor held the lead until the end, even after a rare mistake of forgetting the track layout halfway through the race and almost crashing out. Rex finished only a couple of seconds behind with Zesty hanging on to the 3rd place to complete the podium. Mantas grabbed P4 ahead of Mandula wrapping up the top 5.

In the light of some incidents with blue flags, we want to remind everyone to be careful under blue flag conditions, whether you are the lapping car or the one getting lapped. When being lapped, stay predictable and leave appropriate space. The lapped car is not mandated to move out of the way but may not interfere with an overtaking maneuver in any way, as noted in the following rule:
L-3: lapping car has to make an overtaking move, lapped car may not defend in any way

As a side note, we also want to mention about staying as predictable as possible in the event of losing control of the car. If you find yourself sliding on the track out of control and there is close racing right behind, the best thing to do is to apply the brakes until stationary. Make sure to check the road is clear before rejoining the race to avoid any further incidents.

Next time up we will have the last race in Blackwood featuring dirt racing, before proceeding to the next track environment which will be decided by the driver scoring most points across the Blackwood races (Rounds 1-3). The full info for the following race will be posted later on closer to the race but if you want to find out the combo beforehand, make sure to check out the broadcast of this race or our Discord server.

All Rounder Championship Round 3 recap
All Rounder Championship Round 3 recap

The results posted above are confirmed as official

The third round of ARC was the first to feature dirt tyre racing in the form of a classic rallycross combo. Also this was the last race in Blackwood for this season, next time we will head to a different location which is decided by the driver who scored the most points across all Blackwood rounds. More on that later in this post. There were 17 qualifiers and a few more late joiners wanting to race, but only 13 drivers started the race and not all of them even finished the race.

In the qualifying it was a close fight for the pole position. The top seven drivers were all within 0,5 seconds of eachother, but in the end it was Arska who took the pole position. Beside him in the three-wide grid were MadJester and Michal. The second row was occupied by Lorenzo, Joa and Maciek.

In the race, Arska had some bad luck in the first turns just like in round 1 and he fell back multiple positions. MadJester took full use of his first row starting position and stormed into the lead before the first braking and never looked back as he secured the win by leading every lap of the race despite best efforts of Michal who was just outside striking distance for almost the whole race. For consolation he managed to snatch the fastest lap away form the winner on the final lap, though no points are awarded for that, only glory and bragging rights. The bottom step of the podium was conquered by Thehemuli, who managed to stay clear of turn one incidents and gained multiple places within the first lap. He took the third place on lap six and held on for the rest of the race, while not quite being able to challenge for the top two positions. Lorenzo started fourth and finished in the same position. One might think that he had a boring race, but he had quite a few position changes in the first ten laps before settling in fourth and battling it out with another driver for the last 15 laps. That other driver in question was our polesitter Arska, who managed to climb back up the order after his first lap incident. Fifth place was the highest he could achieve, as the defensive driving of Lorenzo proved to be too much for the Finn. A total of 8 cars crossed the finish line, the rest of them in order were Maciek, T.Soini and Rony.

Round 3 concluded the first quarter of ARC in Blackwood. The driver who scored the most points across the first three rounds and who gets to choose the next track environment was one of the series organizers: Thehemuli.
He scored 45 points in total, mostly due to attending all the rounds and managing to stay clear of any incidents. Second place was taken by Mandula, 13 points behind, who could have challenged for the top spot had he taken part in round 3. From second place down, 9 drivers are inside 10 points. This makes the rest of the season interesting, as at the end of the season the top 5 points scoring drivers will be awarded monetary prizes totaling to 150€. Full championship points, quarterly points and statistics can be found here.

There are still 9 rounds to go in three different track environments, so if you are interested in earning some money or even want to be crowned the first ever All Rounder Champion, be sure to join us every first Monday of the month with varying tracks, cars and racing surfaces!

In three weeks time on the 1st of April we will move to Fern Bay with a road tyres equipped car (and no, this is not an april fools joke, we actually have a race scheduled on that day). More info on round 4 is posted at least a week before the event here on the forum and maybe a bit sooner on our discord server, so keep your eyes open!

All Rounder Championship Round 4 recap

The results posted above are confirmed as official

The fourth round of ARC marked the beginning of a new quarter in a new track environment. We move away from Blackwood, fly across the globe and race around Fern Bay for rounds 4, 5 and 6. First up was a race with road tyres. That was held on the "Green" configuration of Fern Bay using the popular TBO class FXO. With 234 horsepower going through the front wheels, it was a test of patience to keep the front tyres from overheating. A total of 17 drivers took part in some way or another, but only 13 of them took the start.

In qualifying, Arska took his second pole position in a row, while second place was taken by M. Second row was filled with finnish drivers: Thehemuli was third and T.Soini
was fourth, an improvement of five positions of his previous best qualifying result. The top five was completed by Lorenzo. Before the race start, the second place qualifier M decided that he wanted to challenge himself and opted to start from the back of the pack, thus promoting everyone behind him up one position.

In the start, Arska made use of his pole position and took an early lead. Thehemuli kept his second place but could not seem to match the pace of Arska. Starting from third, T.Soini made a few mistakes and ended up all the way in tenth after the first lap. This allowed Motimoukari to move into third place in the first sector. That third place would not last long however, as M had made up his way to 8th by the end of the first lap. On lap 4, he took over third place and started to reel in the two finns ahead of him. A few laps later he caught up to Thehemuli but made a small mistake when trying to pass. This allowed Arska to pull a 10 second gap ahead. But there was still a long way to go, and this is where tyre management started to make the difference. M was able to keep his pace and tyres in a good state, while Arska was struggling with both. On lap 16, M took the lead and never looked back, taking his first win in ARC by almost half a minute despite starting from the back. Thehemuli was also able to keep his tyre temperatures under control, and slowly but surely caught up to Arska and moved past him to take home second place, while Arska managed to hold on to the last podium position. Motimoukari equaled his previous best finish of fourth, and despite the first lap difficulties, T.Soini took fifth place in the end. That marks a 2 place improvement over his previous best finish. Sixth place was taken by 136, Maciek was seventh. Unfortunately Rony rolled his car a few laps before finish, but still gets classified due to completing over 50% of full race distance.

As a reminder, the driver who scores the most points across the three Fern Bay rounds gets to choose the next track environment. Also at the end of the season the top 5 points scoring drivers will be awarded monetary prizes totaling to 150€. Full championship points, quarterly points and statistics can be found here.

There are still 8 rounds to go in three different track environments, so if you are interested in earning some money or even want to have a shot of being crowned the first ever All Rounder Champion, be sure to join us every first Monday of the month with varying tracks, cars and racing surfaces!

In a few weeks it is time again for some slick tyres racing action. The combo in question will be announced here at least a week before the race, but can already be found in our discord server and is mentioned during the race broadcast.

Official race results:

Our second race in Fern Bay proved to be quite a handful for many of the drivers. The roll-happy UF GTR combined with the unforgiving kerbs of Fern Bay Black meant that everyone had to maintain full focus throughout the 45 minute race, as even one slight mishap could mean the end, as it did for many.

Pole position for the race was taken by M, who posted a laptime over 2 seconds faster than his nearest opponent, Thehemuli. Third place was taken by Motimoukari, while Lorenzo was fourth. The top 5 of qualifying was closed by Rony. A total of 12 drivers set a laptime during qualifying and 10 of them took the start, while late joiner Maciek had to start from last.

As soon as the lights turned green, M pulled away with unmatched pace and took his second win in a row, while becoming the first ever driver in ARC to score multiple wins. Thehemuli managed to fend off his teammates attacks during the first lap and slowly pulled away to take home a second place. Motimoukari completed the top 3 and scored his first podium in ARC. The fourth place starter Lorenzo was overtaken by his teammate on the final meters of lap 1, before rolling his car on lap 4 leading to a DNF, as bad luck continues for our Italian friend. We hope it will even out during the rest of the season Smile

Rony was looking set for fourth place, but Maciek had other ideas. He overtook his teammate and held fourth place for a whole 1 sector before rolling his car against a barrier in turn 1 handing his position back to Rony. That still was not enough for the Latvian to keep his position as he made a small mistake 1 lap before the finish, which gave the fourth position to the fast chgarging finn T .Soini. He was able to hold the place and improved his best finishing position in ARC by one place. Top 5 was completed by Rony who also improved on his best finishing position. Two other cars crossed the finish line, but only one of the was classified: Yasin took sixth place, while Redfox did not complete required 50% of race distance. Two other cars did, Maciek was 7th and kubzz was 8th.

As a reminder, the driver who scores the most points across the three Fern Bay rounds gets to choose the next track environment. Also at the end of the season the top 5 points scoring drivers will be awarded monetary prizes totaling to 150€. Full championship points, quarterly points and statistics can be found here.

There are still 7 rounds to go in three different track environments, so if you are interested in earning some money or even want to have a shot of being crowned the first ever All Rounder Champion, be sure to join us every first Monday of the month with varying tracks, cars and racing surfaces!

Next time we will race around a partly dirt surfaced track with a legendary rally car. The combo in question will be announced here in a few days, but can already be found in our discord server and is mentioned during the race broadcast.

All Rounder Championship Round 6 recap
All Rounder Championship Round 6 recap

Official race results:

Our last race in Fern Bay was maybe the toughest of the three. We had 37 laps of rallycross around the standard configuration with a classic Italian rally car featuring rear wheel drive and a short wheelbase. That meant it was agile around corners, but also very tricky to keep it going in the right direction. What also caused troubles for the competitors was tyre temperatures and rear suspension damage. Being a mid-engined car meant the rear shock absorbers took a beating every time going over the big jump after the sector mark, so this was something to consider alongside tyre wear when making a setup.

Despite the difficult combo, we still had 12 cars qualify for the race. Pole position was conquered by one of the series organizers, Thehemuli. He was a little over three tenths ahead of uNite who took second on the grid. Much like the first row, second row was also fully Finnish: Motimoukari in third ahead of T. Soini. Next up there were three Race Green drivers lead by Lorenzo in fifth, Maciek in sixth and Rony in seventh. The creator of this mod M. Kapal also took part and completed the fourth row alongside Rony.

A total of 11 cars took the start of the race, which proved to be a survival battle to the end as only 5 cars crossed the finish line. As the lights turned green, uNite was the one who took the lead for the moment. That moment lasted only one and a half laps when he made a mistake in the jump mentioned earlier and allowed Thehemuli to move into the lead. uNite remained in a good position just behind the leader before losing time due to a driver error. Despite that he still held a solid second position, until disaster struck on lap 25 and his right rear suspension collapsed which made him slowly drop into the reach of Motimoukari. The Zafiralis driver made the pass eventually and went on to claim second place behind Thehemuli. This marks the first 1-2 victory for the organizing team. uNite went on until his left rear suspension also collapsed, making the car undriveable. He retired just one and a half laps before the finish, but still gets classified for completing more than 50% of race distance. Meanwhile, the misfortune of others was turned into a podium finish by Maciek, who kept his pace and car in good condition throughout the whole race. This was the first ARC podium for the pole, an improvement of three places form his previous best. Rony was fourth, he had to settle behind his teammate after fighting with him for the first third of the race. Fifth and last car on track this time was a seasoned veteran, Harri K who made a comeback to league racing after over ten years of absence. He was hindered with hardware issues and had to drive with mouse and keyboard instead of a wheel, but still he managed to complete the race without any major troubles.

As this was the last race in Fern Bay, we need to look at the points table. The driver with most points gathered across the last three races was Thehemuli, before M and Motimoukari. Because Thehemuli already picked Fern Bay after Blackwood, we decided to give the choice to the driver second in quarterly standings. M has decided his pick and it will be revealed in the info post for round 7. For the curious, it can already be found in the round 6 broadcast and our discord server.

Next time the quarterly standings begin from zero again, and the driver who scores the most points across the next three rounds gets to choose the next track environment. Also at the end of the season the top 5 points scoring drivers will be awarded monetary prizes totaling to 150€. Full championship points, quarterly points and statistics can be found here.

There are still 6 more rounds to go in three different track environments, so if you are interested in earning some money or even want to have a shot of being crowned the first ever All Rounder Champion, be sure to join us every first Monday of the month with varying tracks, cars and racing surfaces!

In a few weeks it is time again for some slick tyres racing action. The combo in question will be announced here at least a week before the race, but can already be found in our discord server and is mentioned during the race broadcast.

All Rounder Championship Round 7
ZFRL All Rounder Championship Round
Monday 1.7.2024 17:15 UTC

What: Seventh round of the ZFRL All Rounder Championship presented by Sim Broadcasts
When: Monday 1st of July. 30 min qualifying will start at 17:15 UTC, 63 lap race starts at 18:00 UTC
Where: Kyoto Oval at our server ZFRL•Events

As the season has reached its second half, we move on to a new track environment again. Kyoto has been chosen, and we start of with some oval racing action. Next Monday we race around in circles with the Wessex R69SP mod, which has a power-to-weight ratio of almost 600hp per ton, minimal downforce and has only road legal tyres to choose from. This makes even the banked curves of Kyoto oval seem tight and will keep the drivers on their toes. Come and see how it turns out! The race will be livestreamed by Sim Broadcasts on their Twitch and Youtube channels.

Official race results:

Penalties
The race results suggests that Joshie was disqualified due to unserved drive-through penalty. In normal circumstances, this would convert to a time penalty instead and even with this time penalty he completed the required amount of laps to classify. However, he will receive disqualification and a warning, due to multiple avoidable contacts with lapping cars under blue flags. Multiple warnings may lead to race bans.
This also works as a general reminder to everyone that while the lapped car is not obligated to move away, but is forbidden to block an overtaking move, they should always be careful and aware of the surroundings to not interfere with the lapping car.

It's July and we have moved to our next track environment, Kyoto. The first race was once again a bit of a challenge, an oldschool sports prototype car fitted with road tyres around the oval. Needless to say this provided a fair amount of understeer, which made it tricky to get around the lap by yourself, let alone trying to slipstream. This also meant the right front tyre was under a lot of pressure and thus easy to overheat, but our contestants did a good job avoiding this issue.

Total of 23 drivers dared to take this challenge and qualified to the race, of which the pole position went to the one and only Rony himself. Following him was uNite by just 6 hundredths of a second, which made him a close contender despite being an oval where we are used to closer lap times. The next three drivers to complete our top 5 on the grid were Motimoukari, Maciek and Harri K, who are all familiar names from previous races of this season. In the rest of the grid, we had quite a few new drivers as well which is always a pleasure to see!

After the great qualifying attendance, 16 cars lined up to the starting grid. The top two of Rony and uNite immediately started running away from the rest of the field, having a solid fight between themselves for ten laps, until Rony pulled away and clenched the win, uNite following on his own clear space to clinch P2. The final podium spot saw a good fight between Motimoukari and Maciek, going on side by side for almost 20 laps at the end of the race. Motimoukari ended up on the podium, Maciek yielding to P4 after losing a bit during a lapping situation on the very last lap. Top 5 was completed by Thehemuli, who made a good climb up from 9th in the grid, leaving behind MadJester who got unlucky early in the race running in the back of Thehemuli who tapped the wall just in front of him.

We're just over the halfway point of the season, but there is still 5 races to go. This means you have still a good chance to compete for the top spots in the championship and even for some money prizes if you give a shot at the rest of the races.

Next race will take part on the first Monday of August and will feature a car with slick tyres. The combo will be announced at least a week before the race but if you want a head start, check out our discord server or the past race broadcast.
