The online racing simulator
Please Stop Pressuring Developers
Hello Guys I know I might sound a bit annoying to you since you all have been playing LFS for the past 20+ years and wish to see adjustments that you prefer but guys c'mon,I've seen that pinned thread where it tells us about all the topics that have been covered like "dynamic weather" or upgraded physics model and what not.BUT THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH.

But honestly we do not really need dynamic weather do we? because that would require an ENTIRE overhaul of the physics model and also it would lead to some problems as well.

Now we shouldnt pressure these developers since they're only a team of 3/4 people, how much can you make them do? they're not AI's.

Live For Speed is only possible because of them and they actually made one of the best simulators out there.

My suggestion is to actually give them 1 suggestion at a time.

We all want the night mode right? so let them work on that fully and we dont wanna keep flooding this section with suggestions day by day increasing their stress.

Theres already so much going on with this DDOS issue and stuff so please guys be kind to the developers and also give 1 suggestion at a time.

Thank You for reading this and I apologise in advance if I made anyone feel bad.
Sarcasm?
Well, one suggestion at a time, over 20+ years, it adds up you know.

I think there's nothing wrong with suggestions. Afterall, we as a community are pretty much filtering out the nonsence requests, by approving or tanking it. The devs are perfectly capeable to choose and decide which topic to focus on at any moment and we fully support that.

I understand what you mean and I feel where this is comming, it's very reasonable. Given the recent turn of events, they for sure need our support. Best we can do at the moment is to keep crusing, racing and hosting events - bussiness as usual.
Please don't create such threads or our next decent update will be postponed for another 5 years
So far, I only made 3 technical suggestions and all of them were implemented. I couldn't be more happy, as in my eyes I feel like that was exactly what lfs needed.

There were many more great suggestions proposed by others over the years that also got implemented and made lfs better for everyone. This drive is what makes a very close connection between devs and community. I can only speculate if it were not for all of those suggestions, if lfs would've taken a different evolution path. Probably, no one knows that. But it sure feels good to be the part of that evolution.

I mean why wouldn't a simulator want to have dynamic weather? Even ignoring rain, tracks vary in temps based on time of day and usage and the grip levels change. It should be a good thing where racing isn't just hotlap simulator and you need to react to changes in grip levels (or moisture).

Speaking from my own experience, the addition of rain to iRacing has been an incredible thing as it changes everything. Every lap you're seeking the limit as the track wets or dries with real reward/consequence from getting it right or wrong. It makes the experience more enjoyable.

Even in dry, having a track evolve over a 3 hour endurance stint where the lap times get faster or slower based on track temps and tyre wear which is interesting to have happen.

indeed well said

haha well thank you for actually recommending those because it sure did make me addicted to lfs

I understand what you mean but honestly that would need an overhaul of the physics since it needs to have those adjustments of extra exaggeration making it feel like rain + they'll have to actually make new tyre models that support the rain.

Dynamic weather is a good suggestion and I agree with you but, night mode is the most longed for so we COULD wait for the dynamic weather (hopefully in the next update they'll actually give us insight on what their future plans are) and hopefully when they release 0.7G then we'll have working wipers and other car instruments to aid the driving in different weathers and lets hope they add a little bit of rain on the track and fully simulate the rain to reduce traction on certain parts so that we actually feel the rain and not just a visual effect and we get what we want haha.

Thanks for sharing that info versiu. It fills our hearts with hope Smile I'm sure devs have many ideas floating in their head about how to practically execute this, using an optimized and approximative approach. But all in due time, no pressure, no rush.

It's very interesting to think about it, so I'll share my view. This can be done in stages. For example, we don't need full dynamic weather at once. It's enough to have dry-only conditions and implement dynamic track surfaces, where the track temperature/grip and certain parts of it will depend on the air temperature and how much rubber is laid on it by the passing cars. Once that infrastructure exists in the physics engine, then comes different weather conditions including rain. After that, the graphical implementation of water puddles, rain, clouds, fog, and so on.

I didn't mention snow deliberately, as that is on another level of difficulty, which is not really necessary before allowing the creation of rally stages using a track editor.

wow that would be awesome

exactly

About snow tho: That will require a similar physics level to rally right?
