From track layout alone it was known this round will break speed records of RandomCar and the race did not dissapoint - the average speed was almost 6 km/h higher than previous fastest race in the league, run in april last year in Kyoto,it was also almost 12km/h faster than all time average. Unlike last year, the august round was not the least attended - this tuesday there was 1 driver more than in previous round, however 3 of them left before qualifying and this round had the smallest grid of the season with 19 cars, but since all of them finished, this was just repeated smallest finishers count. In this fast track having car known being fast on straights was very advantageous, however only drivers with good set of skills were able to put them in high positions.
After missing 2 rounds, the previous championship leader returned to series and that with good performance straight away - he got a medium powered car, which has a rather low drag, helping it to reach high speeds in long straights. M got the Cammera, which was republished just before previous round, and set with it fastest lap in qualifying, becoming the 1st ever driver, who scored 2 pole positions with same car. Despite bad start, the lithuanian regained lead at the end of 1st lap and with it led every single lap of the race, pulling away from competition unchallenged from 2nd lap - with that he scored his 2nd race win of the season,3rd overall, taking also the point for fastest lap. Rest of the podium also finished in same position they started - Unite, who was running BZ30 once again, finished 2nd and Rejekt completed the podium in his 2nd RandomCar race with the most powerful car on track that day - the 1.8 ton CZR.
Despite attending only qualifying and scoring only 2 points from it for 2nd place,J.Holmes keeps his lead in drivers championship, but the points gap has been reduced to 12. 2 drivers are now these 12 points away from leader - M is in 2nd place, ahead on tiebreaker (2 wins against 1),followed in table by his teammate and countryman 136. Based on highest gained points in this season (league uses attendance affected points system),only 8 drivers are considered still in the race for drivers championship, however it's quite clear that the race itself will be held between the top3 as rest are simply too far away.
In teams championship only 2 teams remain as championship candidates and with 68 points gap Born 2 Race are clear favourites over defending champions RGA. Zafiralis is still 3rd,however they're closelly chased by 2 strong teams and cannot afford another low scoring round as this one. In nations cup the title contenders are twice as much, however realistically also only top2 are still in race - Lithuania has lost 1/3 of their big lead over last 3 rounds and currently has 37 points gap over charging defending champions Finland,if the current trend continues, the double points scoring season finale might be crucial. UK and Poland still can mathematically take nations championship, however it's unlikelly they will change positions even between themselves. Manufacturers championship is still led by BZ30 Roadster,Talot has scored it's 6th score, making it eligible for championship - that puts the make in 2nd position,XM-5 is now 3rd. There are still several manufacturers, who can get their 6th score and get involved in championship - one of them even with higher average score than current leaders.
4 cars were drawn 3 times for this round, but in the race there were only 2 pairs of same car models, making the field quite variating. Talot is still the most drawn car,now having 43 all time draws, followed by BZ30 with 41,the undrawn Acosta and Imprezzive B2 still have 39. Additionally 2 drivers got the 4th draw of same car (still highest count) - 136 got XF Turbo 5 and Unite the BZ30.
With just 19 drivers starting, there are still plenty of best results in this round. First is the driver in first - M did repeat Cammera's best qualifying result achieved by himself, but his race win is the 1st for the car as previous best finish was achieved by A.Valta, who finished 5th. J.Holmes' 2nd place with CZR in qualifying was 1 position better than his main rival's M's best achievement with the car. The best results fight between Twincam and Arska was alive also in this round - this time Twincam improved Arska's best finishing result with Poscher Caynam with 5th place finish, which is 4 positions better. Jsk used Dash as the 1st ever driver and put it's initial best results as 14th in qualifying and 11th in race. The 2 finnish drivers race for best initial result with Adda Ar-Eight was won by Harri K.,who was 15th in qualifying and 13th in race, just a position ahead of his direct rival. Roku Troeno's best race result is now 19th,4 positions better than Tbug's classified result without finishing race.
The selection of next track has been given to race winner - M has his 2nd and last chance to select track in this season, however he hasn't submitted his choice between Rockingham or Layout Square options yet. Next round will be the last 30 minutes race of the season as the season finale will be a 1 hour race for double points.
