OLFSL is currently running a test server with several combination of cars and track to be used in the coming season. There's no password required to the server, everyone is welcome to race with us.

This thread is about posting your opinions about those combinations, preferrably with something more that "it sucks" or "I hate it"

Hm short & simple : more reversed tracks
And ofcourse oldskool TBO's, don't really care about exact combo's as long as it's not like UF1/KY-GPlong or GTR/FEclub

Looking forward to the next season, I'm sure it's going to be much fun

i would leave out the FO8'S completely. there are tons of leagues focussing on the fast cars and most public servers run FO8 or GTR races.

while more inexperienced drivers might be able to control the GTR class (with taking the FXO and a stable setup) there will probably chaos in all pools from 3 downwards, if the FO8 is run

i'd also like to see some 'classic' races - like MRT/SO1 or TBO/FE2 not just the S2 cars

all but no UF1, that car is to boring for leagues...

i would suggest for OLFSL league to use old school cars, cause only with road cars you get most spectacular and competitive races! With the S2 alpha release, people just addicted to those GTR cars and especially FO8 and KY Oval combo, which i just dont understand why? cause it is easy and you feel yourself cool?
Remember why LFS became so popular? if no, then i will tell why, because it was first ever good ordinary/road car simulator... there was and is and will be many other games with racing cars, go play GTR, GTL, F1, Nascar... if you want just press brake and gas pedals... LFS is something more than that, and OLFSL must be something more than just one more "brake and gas" league...

I think it's a good idea to put emphasis on the "slower" cars (UF1, XFG, XRG). And the TBO class should be included as well.

A couple of races in XFR and UFR would also be nice.

As for the big GTR's, I think one event in those would be cool. Of course they require a little more skill, but with a long enough ahead notice, evereybody could practice enough to be able to race relatively clean.

Also, I would like to race the FOX at least once. It's not that hard to handle but great grippy fun.

could live with a selection like this - it would bring out the special status of the OLFSL and for the top racers who probably all run in GTR/formula leagues as well, it would be some extra variety to their other league races

I personally think the UF1000 deserves a place in a league. I remember a 10 lap race on Aston GP Long. This is a very special racing experiance that some people realy appreciated. Not a thing for the fast and furious among us, so a short track would be a better choice for this friendly car. We did Aston Cadet in the pre-season. Why not try Fern Bay Club?

The FO8 is a specialist car. It is a not a car that should be driven by new LFS racers that like to join a serious league for the first time. The FOX is a better choice but even then I think that the track shouldn't be too difficult. If you like to include the oval, the FOX could be a good choice for the car.

Could be nice to have a race for RB4. Westhill is difficult for GTR but could be a very nice place for the RB4.

fern bay club or blackwood rallycross are both pretty much fun in the UF1 and races are very close...

south city classic is also not that bad for the UF, but i'D race that track with the MRT or FOX rather than the UF1

I really enjoyed that UF1 / SO Town Course combo yesterday.

I can see some points regarding the old skool cars, but this is S2 and with that came faster cars and we should use them.

Cars like F08 are a nightmare for n00bs but how will they learn? Besides if they cause huge crashes they will be punished, I guess

I also think we should use the faster cars but not as extensively as in leagues aimed to the more "professional" racer, because the differences in speed will be the larger the faster the cars get. While I'm sure that, say, the top five guys (I'm basing my judgement on the participants of First encounter here) are perfectly capable of driving the FO8 at competitive speeds, I'm afraid the rest of us is usually not. So we would probably practically have a two-class race at least in the first pool.

So a mix of slower and faster cars is imho the way to go for OLFSL but with a clear emphasis on the slower ones (in which I would include the XFR/UFR class). I just think it will be more fun as those cars are easier to learn and handle. Of course I'm thinking a little bit of myself here. Since I usually don't have too much time to practice, I definitely wouldn't want a combo like the FO8 on WE for example, because I know it would take hours and hours of practice before I would be able to pull off consistent competitive times. The large GTR's on the other hand are not that hard to control if you have the right setup and can still be driven fairly fast.

So I still think we should keep the FO8 out of OLFSL. Everything else I could live with (except for the RAC maybe, that's just a bitch to drive).

the GTR class is fast and also with a decent setup in the FXR easy enough to learn/drive for more inexperienced drivers

the RAC luckily isn't the only car in it's class and the LX6, the FZ5 and if someone really wants to use it despite (or maybe because of) the lack of power, the LX4 are possible opponents. i personally do not like the class at all, but it is a class that a newbie can learn within 2 weeks to the level that stops him from losing control each lap.

and as for S2 content, the UF1, the RAC, the FZ5, the FOX, the XFR, the UFR, the GTR class and all the tracks are enough S2 content, even without using the FO8

leaving out the FO8 would still have quite a lot ov different classes from slow to pretty fest:

the mini (UF1) cup
small touring cars (XFG XRG)
touring cars (XRT RB4 FXO)
sportscars (LX4 LX6 RAC FZ5)
small GTR cars (UFR XFR)
GTR cars (FXR XRR FZR)
mini openwheelers (MRT)
formula renault/F3 (FOX)

And agree with F08 is out of league, and want to propose a combos... one race with GTR cars on wide track would be good... the main class for OLFSL in my opinion should be GTT/RB4/FOX races on AS historic/GP and FE Green/Gold or Black ... and couple of races on GTi/GT or UF1 on SO classic/sprint1 FE Club... and of couse one race on RAC/FZ50/LX6 on KY tracks, but not oval

Maybe you should avoid hotlap setups. Try another diferential type. They are the faster FWD cars and demand a different approach.

There is no need in more faster and poweful FWD cars, FXO is the limit already... GTR FWD cars feels too unnatural

well i like the XFR - i'm not fast with it, but i like it and looking back on the OLFSL first encounter race, it was some great fun (up to the last corner that is)

@DasKlee.. GTi i my favorite car... and FXO in S2 is good... i like FWD cars and sure i drive RWD, and i thougnt that GTR FWD car will became my favorite cars in S2, but when i tryed GTR FWD class, i wanted to run to my toilet and barf... and not only me
And of couse if most ppl want some races with FWD GTR, i will drive it too but it is just my opinion on those cars

i know that it fits looking at the laptimes - it just doesn't fit looking at the car
so i wouldn't run them together in a league.

also i bet there'd be some people in the bottom grid happy to use the LX4 instead of the 3 stronger RWD cars in the sportscar class, just because it's much easier to control - and being a second or 2 slower isn't bad compared to a crash every second or third lap

but that's just my thought on this..
