No, my eyes do fine. Maybe you have your Mip Bias turned all the way down? If you go into the graphics settings, you should see the slider-bar option there for Mip Bias, it basically makes things look "crisp" or "soft". And I tend to make my LFS look soft so it helps on the eyes.
Maybe post a screenshot of what your LFS currently looks like???
nope, sure not it's only you....
since i have to use contactlenses, my time in front of LFS is quite limited.. I seem to quit blinking, while trying to get faster
This is entirely down to your monitor setup. I use a 19" monitor places at some distance, and because i'm not close to the screen I dont suffer eyestrain. Infact I spend all day infront of a screen 5 or so days a week and I do not suffer eyestrain, although I do take regular mini-breaks.
The people who ran my introduction to programming course advised that we found something far away to look at every hour or so to avoid doing your eyes in staring at the code for day after day.....
I don't even see the code anymore... all I see is.... a poor quality matrix-esque screen saver!!
I dont seem to suffer from eyestrain too much, LFS is more or less ok but because i sit at the computer practically all day everyday my eyes do suffer.
Why I asked this question is couse I only have this problem when Im using LFS.
I sit all day infront of computers, but not having this problem.
It's more intense when Im driving, not that much looking at keyboard, papers, out of window.
And the trip every 1h to the coffemachine probably helps.
Im gonna check the Hz on my screen, bias and lighting in my room to see if I find anything.
After 3h my eyes are burning, don't think thats really a good thing.
As someone else said your refresh rate on your monitor may have something to do with it. The higher the better. To change your refresh rate Right Click on your desktop then: click properties>Go to the settings tab>click the advanced button at the bottom>then go to the monitor tab. There should be a "screen refresh rate" option, set this at it's highest setting.
It also helps to not be in too bright of a room. If the sun is shining right on your monitor it makes it a lot harder to see and your eyes have to "work harder".
i only tend to get sore eyes after prolonged play. andi sit as far back as the room will let me, althouugh its annoying when my mam turns the light off, which can make the eyes strain more.
I run my LFS at 1400x1050x32 as this is the maximum resolution i can go before my refresh rate drops to 75Hz. At 75Hz you can see the flicker and after few minutes of playing eyestrain gets very bad. I use 85hz and even though thats not great and i would like to use 100Hz i get hardly any eyestrain nowdays....
You could try turning down the brightness of your monitor. Also, I found my problems disappeared when I bought an LCD screen. My old CRT used to play havok with my eyes- I'd step away from the computer and everything would be really blurry (after hours roaming through Morrowind). Now, it's basically not an issue. Get your refresh rate up as high as it can go. Take short breaks (every 1/2 hour or so) to concentrate your eyes on something atleast 8 metres away. Stretch, drink water, pay the bills etc...
I'm the same way. It's why I still have a pair of glasses. When the kids head to bed, the contacts come out and the glasses go on. Really hate those glasses though. I can't believe I waited until I was 31 yrs old before I tried contacts.
I can go maybe an hour on LFS, flight simming, or general gaming on the PC with the contacts in. With the glasses, I'm up until 3-4 am racing (from around 8 pm).
I used to have minor issues when it was F1GP running at something like 4fps but these days I don't have any issues at all with eye strain. Arms, legs & back side, yes - but eyes, no.
Glad that so many have answerd the question, and looking at poll it seems that I have a issue with my crt screen.
Im gonna try different settings tonight, and Ill post the result here for everyone else that have same problems.
Another cause of eyestrain is the fact that the muscles that control focus are fixed in the same place for a long period because the object you are looking at i.e. the monitor is always the same distance away. This is why sometimes you cannot focus after playing LFS.
If you focus on a distant object out of the window every now and then this should alleviate this problem.
