How is LFS developments going?
Hello devs and other members of the LFS community.

As we can see from the youtube channel from LFS (https://www.youtube.com/@liveforspeed/videos), it has been quite a while since the video's of the day/night cycle and updated South City came out. Now as far as I know there isn't currently any minor test updates thing going on. I was wondering how it's going with these bigger updates.

Also, is it more of a money issue or a time/effort problem that the update still isn't out yet? I mean, I can understand if there is a money issue, since a large update doesn't immediately translate into more income from the whole LFS project. I mean we all have bills to be paid right?
Or is it more of a problem where the devs simply don't have time anymore, due to other obligations/relations/family expansion/etc. I would be happy to get clarification on how it's going with the LFS development.

Thanks in advance for you answer.

1 dev + 1 artist can only produce things at a certain rate. Made worse by said dev being distracted from working on the sim by improvements to mod system, dealing with blowback from DDoSes and other maintainence tasks.
As gu3st said, the DDoS situation certainly hasn't helped with Scawen's ability to make progress; he's been quiet on the forums in the last month though, let's hope this means he's able to focus on the the new physics without too much distraction.

It would be great to get a few new sneak-peek screenshots from Eric's side as well, I'm not sure whether he is working on the new tracks we saw in the 20th anniversary news post, or improving existing ones (South City being the main one I believe, maybe Fern Bay?).
To add to what others have said, i remember reading Scawen saying Viktor wasn't able to spend as much time on LFS, so Scawen was busy taking over tasks that used to be his, including learning the necessary programming for that. Besides LFSWorld, as an example he mentioned the installer which the last one he learned to create himself. So his hands seem to be more than full atm.

it's been said that the plan for Fern Bay is to get minimal updates to be compatible with the new lighting system, but no big overhaul like South City or Kyoto. Whether or not that is still the case i don't know.
we're nearing a 10 year development cycle regarding graphical overhaul and that is simply unacceptable
Maybe just try to create only one car from scratch with blender and import on LFSEDITOR, try to create real physics, engine, animation,... That’s hard! I prefer create something in case of wait about something!

Great answer! I just took up something else, I paint pictures, got interested in RC models and built small tracks for them in the city in a public park! And now I'm expecting the official opening of this small track for radio-controlled models soon)

We are going backwards more than forwards. But Rony will tell you otherwise ;DDD
can you elaborate on that?
I feel like a Morty waiting for a Rick to explain that it is just a reversal of entropy… and I should regret to have stopped playing Roy the game for this
How about /lock ? This helps absolutely nobody as devs already told that they will tell when there is something to tell.
