Here are some zips with 2D top down views of updated South City and Kyoto Ring in 3072x3072 png.
EDIT: for comparison I've also generated Westhill in the same format.
Note: some of the newly filled in areas of South City are not actually driveable. There are so many new driveable areas but to get the job finished there has to be some scenery which is not updated to full detail level.
Thanks for these! Would it be possible to generate the 3072 versions of the current SO, KY and WE tracks so we can have a 1:1 comparison of the updates?
Here's a zip with the old SO and KY generated as 3072.
I think they are the current public ones, but without any ambient lighting.
I didn't include the old WE as it hasn't changed significantly, other than textures and details.
So just to clarify: we need to test Oval Chicanes on oval layout at first, because on oval, speeds are highest and we can also test both sets of chicanes at the same time. Meaning if they work there, then they would work on any configuration.
If those chicanes work on oval, have you thought about then adding those chicanes as alternative configuration for National, GP Long, North and/or Sportscar Circuit?
Or is your intention that they are meant as an alternative track configuration only for Oval (at least at first) and for the rest of the tracks, user can add them by themselves?
I've updated Aston, Westhill, Blackwood, South City, Fern Bay and Autocross since the last progress reports. These updates have mainly been kerb, texture, config, additional modelling, lighting and bug fixes.
I've also worked on 2 other tracks but these won't be released in the upcoming graphical update.
What to say ... OMG ! insane job guys ! Eric, you rock
Hope everything is getting fine with your home project Scawen ! Can't wait to put my hands on this masterpiece . And thanks a lot to share these :
Have some well deserved holidays and enjoy the time before getting onto business again next year !
Nice Christmas present for us, and thanks a lot Degats for those comparison screenshots. I am gonna spend some times looking to these
I'm very happy with that decision.
By merging the current tyre physics into the new development version (DX11, multithreading, 1000 Hz engine, better graphics) we can get the updated version sooner, while the new tyre physics can be added later on.
With the layout editor, it will definitely be possible to reach the water, but given that cars go through (visually) solid ground in some places, there is absolutely 0% chance that they interact with water IMO.
We used a layout having these sort of chicanes on KY1R in the past for a bonus race at the LFSES in 2010, it was pretty fun with road cars most especially TBOs
