With 10 kilometers lap length, this was the longest ever circuit in AWS history, but it was not the deciding factor why drivers needed to save some energy of their batteries to complete the race distance,it was simply the restriction of the car - being a race car it should still be relativelly light to be agile,so it cannot carry too much of batteries around. As 2 years before,RGE again opted for 2 race format for a round using electric car, adding a bit more intensity with 2 starts, but also giving 2nd chance of good result if something went wrong with 1st try. The concept of this combo seemed to be quite attractive in comparision as this round set the highest attendance of the season.
The championship leader Dzidoris wasn't as fast as earlier in the season in qualifying as he set only the 3rd fastest laptime in what felt to be very short 20 minutes session, however he still managed to find his way to race lead in each first lap and led all 10 laps of the round to score his 3rd round win of the season. His teammate and also main rival for championship Falcon qualified a position lower and also found in each race 2 positions progress to finish 2nd in both races and also in overall result, finishing 6 seconds behind in total result. The defending champion Sobis did not had a good first race, finishing 4th with 18 seconds gap,but still set the fastest lap of it,however his 2nd race was much better and he finished on podium in both 2nd race and overall round results.
None of the 2 standings leaders scored a bonus point in this round,so the earned points gap is just 2 - that's now the new gap in standings between leading Dzidoris and chasing Falcon. The defending champion Sobis is still 3rd,but now already 18 points behind leader. With the high performance of leaders, this round eliminated majority of competitors from title chances as only the top5 are now still mathematically eligible for drivers championship, however realistically it seems to end as a duel between season long rivals.
As the only round using electric car, this round was not part of any minor championships, but in race for rookie of the year award we have a competition - current leader Cyk lost 5 points of his lead and has 7 points gap over Madjester, who also scored a bonus point for pole position in this round. No other rookies took part once again, however the award is still open for everyone who would join the league for the first time.
With 2 of their drivers battling out for championship, the defending teams champions were running away from competition right from the start of the season, now their advantage has exceeded the points count where the gap is enough - Race Green Autosports are already teams champions with 2 rounds still left to run, clinching the 3rd title in row and 8th overall. 2nd place is still open for decision, currently Yes Motorsports leads Zafiralis by 5 points - bringing in series 2nd driver would be decisive for either of the teams. In nations cup standings it's the 5-time champions Lithuania, which is running away from competition and they're currently 1 round short to secure the title. Unless defending champions Finland heavily upgrades their performance and/or Canada brings 2nd top performing driver in the play - that's the only chance for title for the north american country,no other countries are eligible for the title anymore.
To set things up for season finale, the penultimate round brings the most unpredictible race - Winter 200 has been in schedule in each AWS season, this year as round 5 from 6 the drivers will have to cooperate with their friends and rivals for better result in the race. Risky bumpdrafting or very effective slingshot drafting are the 2 options, history however favours the risky drivers when it comes to race win, where occasionally one of the involved drivers suffers with many positions loss due some error.
